Madalynn
I loved the sound of car accidents, don't ask me why, but something in its unsettled breath of metal, glass, and impact made me feel an awakening of higher purpose, like I was in on the joke, far off, a spectator of omnipotence, of obsolescence. I met Madalynn when our cars crashed on that rainy day down by the pond. The accident itself was slower than I remembered, not ephemeral at all because something stayed with me as all that glass sprinkled upon my face like a beautiful wonder of timelessness, some memory of her face flickered for a distended amount of time, right next to me, even though she was a few feet away, in her own fucked up car, going through her own panic of things. My head flashed with quick and bright colors, and I did not even feel any pain. Nothing major had happened, it was just a big mess. It was her fault too, the accident. She did not stop when it was her turn to stop and I was, at the time, reaching for a CD, my mind in other rebuttals. Then it was all over. I found myself outside, sitting on the grass with a face full of glass and distortions. I felt the loose sun entering the little red holes in my face, sizzlingly. It had been a nice day a second ago, cooler even.

The Phantom's Note
Kailey shifted uncomfortably in the hard plastic chair of the waiting room, valiantly trying to control her breathing and ignore the excited chatter of her classmates. After eighteen years all they needed to do was make it through the next few months, pass their final exams and they would finally take their place as adults and contribute to the well-being of their society. Jealousy gripped her. She should be as enthusiastic as them, but her carefree attitude had been stolen from her months ago.

Hearts of a Phoenix
The sound of chickens clucking away were the first sounds that woke me. The sunlight streaming in through the open window kept me awake, tossing and turning to get back to the sweet realm of dreams. My body aching from the past few days of non-stop trudging, through the muddy plains from the Ruined Lands to my quaint little village.

The Strangers Bench
"Oh, what a day!" a man says as he sits down on the bench, "it’s after midnight, a bit late isn't it?" The man states looking at the teen sitting next to him. Broken from her daze the girl looks at him and replies "Oh, uh yeah I just needed a minute". Without breaking the focus of packing his pipe with tobacco the man says, "I'm Gus". Watching as the almost hypnotized girl replies " Hi I'm Liz". "What brings you out at such a late hour Liz? To the park of all places" Gus asks as he laughs and lights his pipe. "I mean, your parents must be worried?" Gus continues. Liz folds her arms, looks at the ground as she uses her foot to draw in the mud and says "with how much they are fighting, I doubt they even know I'm gone. Which does not even make sense, they aren’t together anymore".
