Review of 'The Time We're In'
Stopping time is a highly effective but not often used technique in the time-travel genre, rich in possibilities for mischief as well as the most profound changes in human life. Nicholson Baker's masterpiece, The Fermata, is an example mostly of the mischief variety—erotic mischief, to be more exact—in which the hero stops time to undress women (see my brief review here). Likely because Baker is not seen as a science fiction writer, The Fermata is not usually considered to be science fiction or time travel, though Neil Gaiman and Robert Zemeckis are reportedly working on a screenplay.

The Weirdest Sex Scenes in Sci-Fi History
Sci-fi is certainly not afraid of exploring areas of the human mind others would shy away from. Between the infamous and incestuous Star Wars kiss between Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia, and multiple movies that dabble in human-alien intimacy, there are a lot of candidates for a list of weirdest sex scenes in sci-fi history. For the purposes of this list, we've narrowed it down to ten.

'Starship Troopers': The Book and Movie Complement Each Other Perfectly
Some gage the Paul Verhoeven adaptation of Starship Troopersas a brilliantly couched anti-war, anti-fascist statement, while others see no need to elevate this mindless 1997 B-movie slaughter. I’m with the former. But it’s those that are deeply offended by the political hijacking of Heinlein’s message that has me commenting again. I’ve now read the book and find that the vastly different outlooks complement each other perfectly.

Five Glitchy Teaser Trailers Released For Ghost In The Shell Live Action Movie
Paramount just released a handful of intro videos and it look like something cribbed from the intro of CTOS video logs (à la Watchdogs, the video game). They give a glimpse of the how the first ever live action adaptation of Masamune Shirow’s science fiction manga will look like. These are just pointless videos released to spur excitement among movie fans. It is definitely not achieving that.

Amy Adams Responds To Alien Contact In The First Teaser For Denis Villeneuve's Sci-Fi Drama 'Arrival'
While the world awaits for Dennis Villeneuve's grim, smoggy futuristic version of dystopian Los Angeles in Blade Runner 2, the director has revealed a 1-minute spot for his other sci-fi project 'Arrival'. It stars Amy Adams which is all I want to know. Still photographs of the film were released sometime this week giving our first look at the characters played by Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker. The teaser was released a few minutes ago and it reminds you why the word 'thriller' is synonymous with the works of Dennis Villeneuve.

This Blade Runner VR Experience Is The Definition Of 'Lit'
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away", Philip K. Dick had to say this about Reality. He also said, "I, in my stories & novels often write about counterfeit worlds, semi-real worlds as well as deranged private worlds inhabited often by just one person." Boy, would he be profoundly happy to experience Virtual Reality had he been alive today.

Best Space Opera Movies of All Time
Space opera movies are the lifestream of mainstream sci-fi. For those who have never heard the term before, outer space operas are shows and films that deal with people who are traveling through space. So, mainstream movies like Star Wars and series like Star Trek both would be part of this genre.
