'Far Cry 5' Ditches Exotic Setting To Tackle A More Familiar, Disturbing Threat
Far Cry's villains are often exalted for possessing a unique brand of eccentric evil, turning the most brightly-lit, exotic locales into their own dark and twisted playgrounds. In the past, video game villains have fallen into neat templates and stereotypes: zombies, Nazis, Nazi zombies, aliens, "foreign" terrorists, militant groups and the like. But there's something about Far Cry 5's villainy that is both uncomfortably familiar and yet new ground for the series, introducing a distinctly Americanized adversary.
