My Love of Retro Gaming
The 80s: the decade that retro games were popular and enjoyable. The first game system that I had laid my hands on was the beloved Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). It belonged to my father and I was mesmerized by it. My love of retro gaming started back in 1989 and I saw this awesome game console that had a few games and a great accessory called the NES Zapper. I was eager to try this electronic light gun accessory. The very first game I have played on the NES was Super Mario Bros. Unfortunately, I never made it past World 1-1. So I played a game called Duck Hunt, which required the NES Zapper. Growing up, I wanted to shoot the laughing dog so bad. Almost 30 years later, I still haven't done it. Every time that I would miss shooting the ducks, it would laugh at me. By the early 1990s, I knew that playing video games was something that I was good at. It was a hobby that I can enjoy. The NES is and will always be my first love, but I have played many games on different gaming systems. To this day, my favorite NES games are the following: Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt, Contra, Super Contra, Bubble Bobble, Ninja Gaiden, Super Mario Bros. 3, Tecmo Bowl, Galaga, StarTropics, Wrath of the Black Manta, Pac-Man 1943: The Battle of Midway, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game.

Classic Video Games on the iPhone You Can Play
Most of our childhood consisted of the damn best video games in history. From Galaga to Tetris and Pac-Man, these are the video games that made our childhood so great. Kids these days truly don't understand how exciting it was to finally get the long block in Tetris after piling and piling the other blocks on top of each other. And they certainly don't understand the feeling when the frog finally crosses the street in Frogger. It's little things like these that always remind us why these video games are the greatest.

Computer Games - Comfort or Addiction?
My mother played solitaire. She had four children, a husband, and a part time job, but whenever she had what is laughingly called a “spare moment” she would sit at the dining room table with a deck of cards. Klondike, Free Cell, Pyramid—she played them all.

'Final Fantasy Tactics' PS1 Review
Nearly a year ago I said to myself, in a passing moment of genius or idiocy, that it would be a brilliant idea to sit down and play games that were released exactly 20 years ago, for a few hours, and then post online about my experiences with these games. This initially led me down a dark path; with 2017 being an overly busy year I experienced only a handful of my intended games—Croc: Legend of the Gobbos, Spawn: The Eternal and Fallout—and that handful left me utterly disappointed.

Innocent Digital Piracy
This is a question that will find both a great amount of support and probably an even greater amount of negative response; all the same, I ask the question and make my own argument: “Who does digital piracy hurt under these specific circumstances?”

How Far We Have Come in Gaming
Back in the day—and I only know about this due to the Interwebs—there was a marvelous invention called the Atari, the OG of video game consoles. Sure, the pixels weren't very pretty, and the controllers look like a monstrosity now, but back then, it was a diversion from the plethora of board games available back then. Nowadays, a lot more pixels are used, and memory space for one slot can even equal many, many megabytes. In here, I shall explore the gradual evolution of the graphics and gameplay of something that probably only thought was going to be a trend, but has now lasted about 40 years or so.

Cancelled Warcraft Game Reappears After 18 Years. You Too Can Play It Now!
If you're an ardent fan of Warcraft and as besotted as my neighbor who has been playing the series since Orcs and Humans, then you must've definitely heard about the fate of Warcraft Adventures: Lord of the Clans, a whimsical point-and-click video game set in the Warcraft Universe that was ultimately cancelled in 1998. The story centered on Thrall, the Orc who escapes human captivity after years of being slaved and proceeds on a personal journey to discover his heritage and reunite the clans. Thrall was voiced by Clancy Brown popular for his role in Highlander and as Byron Hadley, the Captain Guard in Shawshank Redemption. He also voiced Blackhand, the antagonist warchief in the cinematic version of Warcraft, 2016. Peter Cullen gave his legendary vocals to the character of Orgrim Doomhammer. Classic British actor and baritone voice artist Tony Jay played Drek'Thar.

Extra Life for Some Old Games
L + Down, R + C-Right, R + C-Up, L + Right, L + C-Down, R + C-Up, L + Right, R + Down, L + Left, L + R + C-Right. I still remember the code for invincibility on Goldeneye for the N64, not the most useful thing to remember anymore but it might be soon enough.

NeuroVoider Is Digital Eye Candy from the Retro Era
It was nearly 30 years ago when I was sitting in my father's lap with an NES controller in my hand as he guided me through Hyrule. Now, we find ourselves distanced from those classic games. It's because of my dad that I've become attached to the 8-bit to 32-bit games.
