Breaking the (Autistic) Code: Johnny from The Room (2003)
Disclaimer: I am not a licensed medical professional and this series is not about diagnosing the character(s) with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This series is a personal examination of the film/TV show's plot, the character's traits and personality and how they relate to me as an Autistic woman. I will also examine canonically Autistic Characters, so take my personal opinions as just that, a personal opinion. I would encourage my readers to seek out different perspectives on disability representation especially from BIPOC disabled creators who are often ignored in the disability discourse. Also some of the topics I will discuss might be triggering so please take care of your mental health when reading. I will also try to avoid giving away any spoilers for those who have not seen the film/TV show but if I have to give context for my arguments, this will be a likely occurrence so please be forewarned.

Why I'm Not Mad At Will Smith
I know some of you guys are already sick of this topic so feel free to click off my post if this is you. I'll wait. Are the boring people gone yet? Good. I had to gather my thoughts before I wrote my serious take on this topic. First, I'm going to go on ahead and say that I am extremely biased. I have been a huge fan of Will Smith. Heck, the first single I ever bought was Parents Just Don't Understand. Also, I have NEVER been a Chris Rock fan. His voice literally gets on my nerves. I watched Everybody Hates Chris despite having to hear him narrate the show. The actors were just too good for me to ignore. I watched the documentary because hello, how could I pass up a documentary about black hair? So there's that. Now that that's out of the way.... Here's my take on it.

This week, as we started to discuss ethics of mass communication and ethical crisis media strategies, life brought me a special "gift": Will Smith slapping Chris Rock during the 94th Academy Awards ceremony.

From mini-guns to blasters, the movies have showcased some pretty amazing weaponry over the years. There is no shortage of scenes with excellent firearm action, but the one means of sensationally entertaining cinematic-style destruction is that of the dreaded flamethrower.
