fiction
Horror fiction that delivers on its promise to scare, startle, frighten and unsettle. These stories are fake, but the shivers down your spine won't be.
Angels & Demons
A crazed look filled Roy’s eyes. It was the same look that always over took those eyes when Roy told one of his stories. I suppose ‘crazed’ wasn’t the proper term for such an expression, but it was a sort of excitement, inner hopefulness that encompassed his entire appearance.

Haunting Me Part 4
Four rapid pounds rocked the house. Four more came, thundering through the door and vibrating the walls. I heard the racking of a shotgun to my right; it was Joe, taking aim at the door. I looked at the window and didn’t see the black-eyed inmate anymore. Joe raised the gun to his shoulder, lined up the sights and put his finger on the trigger, beginning to squeeze. “WAIT!” I yelled. Another rapid fire of four knocks came, but softer, not as earth shattering as the first two. “CITY POLICE!” a voice yelled from the other side.

The Vampire In My Dreams
I was in his full control. I had no mind of my own at this point. As he drained the blood from my wrist. I felt my soul slipping away. I kept my eyes locked with his as my body again to weaken. He watched my eyes as the blood poured into the goblet.

Dead Memories
The forty degree heat filled the air; the rays of the sun beat down hard against the dirt, free of any cloud-like obstacle, the cicadas chirping incessantly throughout the day. I took out my three pack of filtered cigars; carefully unfolding the packet's lid and removed a single, small, cigar. Grasping the tip between my lips, I refolded the packet and placed them back into my packet, replacing them with a box of matches. Sliding the box open and removing a match, striking it across the rough side of the box ignited the match, creating a flame big enough to burn the end of my cigar, taking in a breath, inhaling the smoke, allowing it to sit in my mouth to savor the taste before exhaling.

Lampago Part III
When Rudy arrived at Wigman's Grocery, the store was already open and teeming with customers since sunrise. Not that it mattered to Rudy, as he hadn't been assigned to help open the store for months. The mountain made an unobtrusive beeline to the back of the store, then clocked in. He pulled out his Wigman's Grocery baseball cap as he shoved his dufflebag into his locker. He put his cap on as he hurried to the loading dock of the stockroom. Rudy was needed for his special talents, after all.

Haunting Me Part 3
What followed had to be the longest inquisition I’d ever been a part of, and to remind you, I once went to jail. My previous time as an inmate of this very county didn’t help my situation, or the situation of Officer Simmons, because now a former inmate and an off duty police officer were in spitting distance of a recently deceased body, and all of us were tied together because of that damned cell. Our saving grace was CCTV. The garage had a closed circuit camera system running through their junk lot to keep intruders out. Those weren’t beat up old vehicles, after all. Those were investments. That was their stock room. Rolling back the footage, the detectives responding could clearly see we didn’t put a finger on the guy and he clearly killed himself.

Warm
Another volume for the shelves, another tale of woe. The depression of my life snakes its way through my mind and down my arm to the fingers that hold its escape. I stared at the paper, my eyes following the quick strokes of my pencil as I laid my woes into my journal. Many people had told me it would or should help after I refused to take drugs. According the psychiatrist, it was supposed to alleviate some of the stress on my mind, free my thoughts of such negativity. I never saw it as negativity, though. It was just me facing the truth that was many times avoided. Each entry had the date at the top of it and contained every “bad” thought I’d had that day. Most of them started with the insistence of my parents to take the drugs that had been prescribed for me. I refused, just as I had always done.

Never Let Go
“Never let me go” were the last words I heard before I woke. Never Let Go I opened my eyes to stare at the ceiling. I knew whose voice spoke the words and that was why my heart felt so hollow. It had been mere months since her death and each day it became harder to carry on. I couldn’t even bring myself to leave the town and each night was rewarded with painful memories. The painful part being that they reminded me that I could never see her again. My eyes began to water and I blinked several times, fighting back the tears. In this new world, crying was a sign of weakness.

Near Death
I stare at the ceiling and rub my face. I can't seem to fall asleep but now it is time for me to get up, so I roll on my side and see my beautiful wife laying next to me. Her face is peaceful, serene, as she snores lightly into oblivion. I roll up onto my side, and stare down at her lithe figure. I lean down and kiss her forehead. She rustles but doesn't wake, and I quietly step out of bed.
