Halloween Visit
"Come on, Dad, let's go!" Lily stomped a slipper-clad foot on the sidewalk as she looked back at her father. She was ready to go trick or treating, and it seemed that nothing but Josh could keep her from her sweet treats. He was sitting on the front steps of his childhood home, a well-loved cul-da-sac teaming with costumed children. The moon hung overhead, a ghostly sickle that presided over this Halloween night. The children laughed and screamed as they stalked by, the street a sea of superheroes, video game characters, colorful animals, and everything in between.

The Night of Dead Thursday
It was that time of year again, the third Thursday in October, otherwise known as Dead Thursday. All was quiet on this particular day, and particular night for that matter. Nobody was at work, or in school. Everyone stayed in the comfort of their own homes, and did not leave for any reason: not to socialize, run errands, or even get mail. The chances of dying in a car accident, or being murdered, on this day was nine times out of ten.

Gargoyle
I grew up in this building. I've explored every floor, heard every story, often repeatedly. It's the oldest building in this town and the one with the most statues on the roof. I've spent hours up there observing the night sky amongst the cables, satellites, and gargoyles. What a big town facade for our little hamlet; statues on the building like a miniature Gotham.
