Goblin Bites: Scary Stories 13
Jim and Lois had been driving all day. They were traveling cross-country from their home in Pittsburgh to visit Lois's ailing Great-Aunt Ida in Santa Fe. Sure, they could've flown (it certainly would have been quicker) but Jim had a crippling fear of flying. Both of them figured a little road trip would be fun; it gave them a chance to unwind upon the open road, and get reacquainted with each other. Although they had been married for almost five years now, neither of them recently seemed to have the time to just sit down and talk anymore with their individual busy schedules.

The History & Haunting of The Myrtles
The Myrtles Home & Former Plantation Deep in the heart of St. Francisville, Louisiana, lies one of the most haunted homes in the United States—The Myrtles. The former plantation and home were built in 1796 by General David Bradford. In the early 1800s, it was common to find plantations along the Mississippi, and The Myrtles was one of them. For some, plantations were a significant source of income. They produced a supply of cash crops at the expense of those enslaved. Tragically, plantations were also a place of death and despair for many others. It's a dark chapter in American history, filled with brutality and inhumane conditions.

Genre Survey: Southern Gothic
From the muddy brown waters of the Mississippi to the coal black mines in Appalachia, the American South has long had its share of stories best told in the dark. These tales of violence, racial tensions, religious extremism and supernatural horror are often smothered in a humid blanket of delirium and reality-bending nightmarish elements that have haunted the American South for over a century. The artistic genre of Southern Gothic combines these macabre and horror elements along with the evolution of the history and character of the region to create many classic works of literature, art, and music, as well as widely popular movies and television.

Soucouyant of Caribbean Folklore
I find folklore fascinating. Some stories are passed on from generation to generation, never reaching outside the local area. Occasionally, a story makes it outside the locals and into other languages. Lucky for me, this seems to happen often with scary stories. This one comes from a place called the Caribbean, which may summon images of beautiful beaches like the one above.

Aleya Ghost lights in India
In the marshes of West Bengal is where you can find these Aleya Ghost lights or otherwise known as Jack-o-lantern. In the marshes when the fishermen are fishing late into the night these ghost lights will come out and the fishermen will try and follow the lights and end up getting lost and end up dying. Many say that the lights are the spirits of dead fishermen and the fishermen out in the marsh get transfixed by the lights and they get confused and end up falling out of their boats and drowning. Other times the light can lead them away from danger.
