Walls
If walls could talk, would they? That is the eternal question that all humankind passing through my halls has wondered at one point in time. I, alone, know the answer to that burning question, and the answer is, quite simply, we wouldn’t. Instead, the walls that make up my persona will forever stay silent to the awaiting ears of my inhabitants. I thrive on watching the melodramas in my corridors. I gasp with excitement when I hear scintillating details and gossip, especially when it’s dark gossip, you know, the kind that is muttered under hushed tones while the target is in another room.

Appalachian Grandpa Tales: Tracks in the Snow
"Reminds me a little of the last time I followed tracks in the snow." The steam rose as I blew into my hands, looking back at Grandpa as he made his way through the snowy forest. It was February, and the weather had been temperamental since Thanksgiving. We had been experiencing some thick snow since the first of December, and the usual decorations had looked very festive this year as they sat huddled atop all that powder. We had picked up as many of them as possible, but I knew that come spring, we would find more of them where they had been buried by the snow. It figured this would be when Clarence, the cat owned by Grandpa's closest neighbor, would have chosen to get loose.
