urban legend
Urban legends have captivated us from ancient eras to the modern day; a deep dive into scary lore and 'could be true' tales about Bigfoot, Slender Man, the Suicide Forest and beyond.
STOP!
Running, running, running. The night is pitch, a blanket of darkness that engulfs the landscape and blinds those who dare to tread. Don’t go out after dark, they say, for even that which is known becomes strange. They want to scare us, to keep us away, but away from what? The darkness cannot hurt you anymore then the day.

The Pied Piper Portal
by: Dennis R. Humphreys The Foley family moved into the area just four months ago from a larger suburban area. Some of the suburbs were getting as bad as the cities so Jym's parents decided to move into the country. Jym hated it at first, being away from all his friends, but he soon found there was fun being outside instead of sitting around on nice days inside, playing games on his smartphone. It was an epiphany for the ten year old who had only known one way of life that was a sterile result of social media.

Yule Be Sorry
Yule Be Sorry. The date is December 25th, Andrea is sitting with her two sons unwrapping Christmas gifts, while Rob watches taking pictures. Everyone is smiles, until Brian the oldest son, 16 years old, opens a small gift that is wrapped in a wrapping paper different to any paper and bows that are under the tree. “Rob, is that from you? I don’t remember getting that for Brian.” She looked confused at the box. “No, I thought you got it.” Brian started to open the wrapping on the box, and inside there was some tissue paper and a note that rea, “YULE BE SORRY!” Brian laughed and showed it to his parents and then shook the box, to make sure nothing else came out of it. Nothing else fell out, “What does the label say, who is it from?” Andrea picked up the lid of the box and the wrapping paper and turned it all kinds of ways trying to see a name on it. It only read, “To Brian.”

So this is I17 huh? I've been driving so long I barely remember any colors other than red and grey. Driving in this convertible Camaro is perfect. I can smoke my colitas and my car is no worse for wear. But maybe I should lay off a tad. I’m getting sleepy. I'll close my eyes for a second and… FUCK!!!

Cabin in the Woods
Nothing exciting happens in Lake Chripon which Wes Brandt could always attest to. He has lived in the least populated town in all of the United States for as long as he could remember but the one claim to fame it did have, it was rather high in crime, which is why he was the sheriff of this town. Lake Chripon is a typical low-end, swampy town where everyone knows one another. It’s filled with a ton of fishermen due to being so close to the ocean and that is sadly about the most exciting thing about it. Wes was well-liked by the people, which helped him become sheriff, he had always been a man that stood out in this small town. In his heyday, he was a hell of a quarterback that made standout plays on the regular for a town that never had any claim to fame or relevance in the sporting arena. No matter how good he was, his teams never amounted to anything anyway. Wes had received a report of a disturbance out in the run-down part of town’s seldom-visited area called Moonachie, or better yet the Moonies. No one went out there except for kids at night to party or smoke weed. It was a secluded area, so Wes thought that would be what he saw getting out there. Just some kids on a bender, lord knows he did the same back then.

The Wandering Spirit
A very well-known figure in the sleepy town of Stonebrook was the spirit of the Wandering child. Several people had stories pertaining to this soul from teachers to taxi drivers. Nearly every story was the same. Someone would see a child about nine or ten years old standing in the distance. Their clothes were tattered, a trash bag in their hand. Their face was obscured by shoulder-length hair. After a short encounter, the child would disappear.
