A Quiet Wrongness
As the World Tilts. A system not working.

There exists a quiet wrongness in and of a world-system that insists it is functioning, even as its seams are showing. It is far easier to focus on the attention rather than the diagnosis, because that’s where the truth often lives.
We Live In A World That has ceased to Pretend to Be Aligned. Truth it seems, has finally reared its ugly head.
Systems promise order. They promise that if you follow the lines drawn for you - the queue, the form, the algorithm, the expectation - you will arrive somewhere predictable. But lately, the lines feel like they were drawn for a completely different species.
Social systems exist, where people move through their days as if the choreography still makes sense.
We greet each other with the same phrases, though the meanings have thinned.
We scroll through curated feeds that insist we are connected, even as the connections feel brittle and only pixel-deep.
Can you not feel it - the quiet ache beneath it all - the sense that we are performing in a natural normalcy inside a structure that no longer knows what it was built for.
Loneliness is treated like a scheduling issue. Exhaustion is reframed as ambition. Fear is managed through branding.
Everyone keeps moving, because stillness would require naming what isn’t working.
Economic systems
Our economy throbs like a machine that has forgotten its purpose. Numbers rise and fall on screens, and we are told this is health.
But the lived world - the one with rent, groceries, medical bills, and the cost of simply existing - tells a different story.
People work more hours to afford fewer things.
They call it “flexibility,” though the flexibility seems to bend only one way.
We celebrate productivity while quietly mourning the parts of ourselves we traded for it.
The system still functions, technically...
But it functions like a clock that keeps perfect time, with people who still move with the beat of the drums - while the buildings and the system around them burn.
Political systems
The political world insists on its own legitimacy through rituals of hatred, lies, misinformation and injustice for all who matters not to them - they pursue individual vendettas against liberty, justice and the pursuit of happiness for the 'unlanded and untitled' mass.
They offer debates, speeches, votes, ceremonies, the choreography of governance. But beneath the ritual is a widening gap between representation and reality.
People speak, but the system deliberately hears only certain frequencies.
Policies are drafted for problems that no longer exist, while the real ones grow in the margins.
Everyone behaves as if the structure is still aligned - as if the gears still mesh - because acknowledging the misalignment would require imagining something beyond it.
The misalignment itself is glaring
Yet. Nothing has overtly collapsed.
That’s the strange part.
The system still stands, still speaks, still demands participation.
The wrongness is not dramatic. It is covert. Hidden truths too awful to be disclosed.
It is friction of the mass mind:
- the pause before answering the...“How are you” questions.
- the dread before opening an email
- the sense that the future has become a hallway with fewer doors
- the quiet knowledge that the system is shaping us into versions of ourselves we never chose
And yet, we continue.
We adapt.
We rationalize.
We tell ourselves that this is simply how things are now.
Attention is enough.
Sometimes attention is the only honest act available.

Here, in this World Place - we still exist 'safely' in the realm of fiction and allegory - no names, no direct references, just within the shape of leaders whose influence bend the world in ways almost everyone pretends not to see. It keeps the tension we’re reaching for invisible: we know something is unmistakably wrong, yet everyone behaves as if the script is still intact.
Narcissistic Presidents And World Leaders Who Tilt the World.
It always begins with a tilt.
Not a dramatic one - no sudden lurch, no alarms - just a subtle shift in the angle of the world, as if the floor had dipped a few degrees to the left. People notice, of course. Coffee cups slide a little on their saucers. Doors refused to stay open unless propped. Pens roll off desks with quiet insistence.
But no one says anything. Still it goes on. Hope waxes futile.
The President - the one whose voice fills every screen, every hallway, every conversation - insists that the tilt was imaginary. “The room is perfectly level,” he said, smiling the way people smile when they’re daring you to disagree. “Anyone who feels otherwise is being dramatic.”
And so the country learned to walk with a slight lean.
_The broadcasts -
Every morning, he appeared on television, in newsfeeds - framed by flags and polished wood, speaking in a tone that suggested he was merely stating the obvious.
He spoke of enemies that were not enemies, victories that were not victories, and dangers that seemed to grow only when he mentioned them.
People repeated his words the way one repeats a weather report - not because it feels true, but because it feels easier than arguing with the sky.
Murder and mayhem rock the very foundations of society - all in the name of false prophets playing gods.
The gatherings awaken once again...
At public events, the tilt was more pronounced.
Podiums had to be nailed down.
Chairs were arranged in careful diagonals.
Yet the attendees clapped and nodded as if everything were perfectly upright.
If someone stumbled, they laughed it off.
If someone whispered, “Doesn’t it feel like the whole place is sliding?”
the others would smile tightly and say,
“It’s just you. Try standing differently.
The dissent
A few people tried to point out the obvious.
They spoke of the tilt, the unease, the way the world seemed to be leaning toward something sharp and unseen.
But the President dismissed them with a wave of his hand.
“Troublemakers,” he said.
“People who want chaos.”
And the crowd, eager for reassurance, nodded along.
It was easier to believe that the floor was steady than to admit they had been walking crooked for months.
The global echo
Other nations watched the tilt with concern.
Some tried to compensate, adjusting their own footing.
Others pretended not to notice, afraid of being accused of imbalance themselves.
A few leaders mimicked the President’s stance, tilting their own rooms in solidarity.
Soon, entire regions leaned in different directions, each insisting theirs was the only true level.
The quiet truth
Catastrophes are arriving - slow collapses loom.
The steady strain of living in a world where everyone agreed to ignore the angle is degenerating.
People are adapting.
They have learned to brace themselves when walking uphill.
They learned to sleep with one shoulder higher than the other.
They learned to speak in ways that didn’t disturb the illusion of balance.
And the President continued to smile, frown, glare and taunt - perfectly at ease in the slanted world he had created - or maybe he just simply refused to acknowledge it, thinking it beneath him.
The misalignment
What was wrong was not the tilt itself.
It was the silence around it.
The collective decision to behave as though nothing had shifted,
even as the horizon slid slowly out of view.

But.....
Yet...

He won't be there forever, but the damage will take time to fix. I have my champagne ready...
We are so attuned to these 'systems' that we don't know what half of them are for. Well said, Novel.

A very nice, reflective piece, Novel. I’m so politically involved and attuned that “the tilt to the left” threw me off. The system tilted to the right, to fascism. And now it seems like it’s not just tilted but is free falling. And still people put up the resistance. I’m thankf for Minnesota.
Omgggg, this is exactly the truth of what's going on. You nailed this!
