Money - Is Everyone Desperate
A System That Isn't Working Challenge

The Saga Continues-More Bang For Your Buck
It Appears That A Lot Of Systems Are Not Working
It seems the economy is getting worse. Let's examine a few things that I have experieneed in the past year. This is just my personal experiences, however, if it is any indication of how our economy is doing, we might all be concerned.
Let's take a look and you can weigh in on whether you think it is indicative of how we are doing worldwide and well as the United States.
Boarded Up Stores
When we go out for any reason, shopping or to the doctors, it is hard not to notice the boarded up businesses. It seems like there are more and more of them closing up.
When I notice a boarded up business and I say to my husband, "Another one bites the dust", I immediately google it on my phone and sure enough it says especially if it is a known chain store, it says it has declared bankruptcy and is closing all of their stores.
My Experiences
1. Best Buys - I have recently bought a brand new Macbook Air there, and previously if you buy the computer there, they help you set it up free of charge. Not anymore, now there is a $40 charge if they just touch it. Previously, if you bought a maintenance agreement with them it was a one time charge at the time of purchase, now it is a monthly charge and it is quite expensive.
2. The Dentists - I went to a dentist for 50 years, but then he retired a few years ago. I have been searching for a dentist ever since.
When I went to a new one, they requested the dental xrays before my visit, but they knew they hadn't arrived. They called me back and told me "To Sit In The Dentist Chair". You know the one. I went back and sat there. The dental assistant told me that there would be no charge because the dental xrays had not arrived yet, and I would have to reschedule. But wait, a young dentist came in and said I would indeed be charged because of "Chair Time". I couldn't believe it,- Chair time???? However, I paid on my way out, to the tune of $89. But wait, that is not the end of the story. A lot of people do not look at the statements from their insurance companies, but "I Do". The insurance company had also paid the $89, for the so called exam, actually I did not let him look in my mouth, that charge was for "sitting in the chair". I called and left a message and said, "Isn't that fraud?" They called me back and said they would be sending me a refund.
3. The Medical Doctors - I think we all have had our experiences with the healthcare system. In 2020, during covid I had an unnecessary surgery, that left me handicapped. I found out a lot about the healthcare system when I recuperated enough. I wanted to know what the hell happened to me. What I found out is ,that I stopped breathing twice when they tried to take the indotracheal tube out of me. They should have never operated on my with 35% lung function.
That is what started me writing articles full time. I wanted to find out what happened to me, and therefore I started researching, that and because I was left handicapped, I no longer could do the things that I used to do, that I enjoyed.
4. The City of Dover Delaware - When I was looking over my electric bill, I noticed a few things that were new on it. Like the emergency responders charge that never used to be on there. Also there was a charge for drainage that was never on there before. It seems their system was outdated and they have to pay for it somehow.
5. Fraud - It is at an all time high. I get spam calls every day. I also get texts from God knows where. EZ pass and the selling of the grants for Medicare are completly out of control. I find myself screaming at these people to hang up. I called EZ pass and they said it was a scam, and the one where they say your package has been intercepted at customs is getting a bit old.
6. No Bags - They say it is to be environmentally friendly, but I just spoke to my Cardiologist and he said the cloth bags are unhealthy unless you constantly wash them. He said the meat juices and the like that spill on them make them extremely unhealthy.
Is Everyone Desperate For Money
It appears that way, and it appears that people are wanting to retire early and get that all sought after pension.
Things have been changing in the world for a long time.
Weigh in with your thoughts. Have you had an experience that would indicate the desperation for money.
Please leave a comment.
Till next time

Prices are rising, and wages aren't, and we are told to tighten our belts. Price rises are blamed on inflation, but the price rises are causing inflation. Some excellent points here.
Omgggg, them charging you just because you sat on the dentist chair, without even having your teeth looked at is wild and atrocious!! Also, I never thought about cloth bags that way. We don't buy meat but yea, it still gets dirty from other stuff. Gotta wash it more frequently
Yes! The system is beyond broken. And thank you for pointing out the extra charges. I will definitely do the same and start looking for added charges on bills that come in. Nice entry, Susan!
