Keep Practicing
Don't Give Up?
BLEEP! BLEEP! BLEEP!
~Keep practicing! Well one day you just might be a, um..a writer? It truly means so much to me to have such heartfelt insights from the side-lines from unknown sources. Sorcerers? Smiley face! Gots to smile! Let's see what ole Rock can do about this.
Take 1-
The ball is big, the girl is small. See the ball? See the girl? See the girl kick the ball? Kick it girl, kick it! ~How's that? Am I any better?
Let's try this again. Take 2-
The little girl hated wearing tights in the smouldering sun and playing with a stupid ball on dry grass. ~ I'd hate it, too little darling.
~No, that's not enough. Again. Take 3-
The mother of the little girl sat scrolling on her phone in the shade; she wished she could like parenting but, to be real, it was driving her mad.
~ Hm. I like that, perhaps we have something. Take 4-
Li sat on a bench shading her fair skin scrolling for affordable day-care so she could get back to work. She loved her daughter more than she could express but the truth is never spoken. Back home she'd be shunned for never marrying. She had done this solo, avoiding calling her own family when Sara was awake. What if her very conditional mother overheard a little cry, a voice other than her own? She'd decided to just keep Sara to herself. Her savings from her well paying paralegal career was growing thin; something had to change for the better.
~Practice makes perfect? Insert another snarky emoticon. No more Takes.
Li took a picture of her daughter. Sara was a determined yet obedient child. She wished she could find friends for her. Hell, she wished she could find a friend for herself. ~ I'm starting to like Li, I will find her a friend. Let's cut her a break bruh. Let me get more coffee, BRB!
~ Meet Li!
~Look! I found a friend for Li! YAY!
Li looked up from her cell phone to a smiling, friendly enough face. A well dressed woman chuckled as Sara rolled her giant ball her way. She politely rolled it back and waved at Li.
Li smiled obligingly, slightly wary of women in the park without children. Li was bored, frustrated and genuinely lonely. ~ How can I make this work? How long can little Sara keep kicking this giant ball in these damn tights? She's got to be overheated. Maybe Li needs to give this child a juice box!
~What the? Who the hell is this guy? What's with his nose? Is he some kinda perv staring at little Sara in the dry grass with her giant ball? Is he hitting on Li?
~Well, looky here! He has a doggy with a ball. The dog is happy. Maybe the guy was punched in the face by a pizza delivery guy who didn't get a good tip. It happens.
Li calls for Sara to have some apple juice from her backpack. Sara toddles over and the doggy romps along with her. Li hesitates, then lifts Sara up; she's always been afraid of dogs. The dog drops it's slobbery ball at her feet. The lady on the bench laughs and calls out, "He's quite friendly, I've met him many afternoons here. Just kick it away, but I will warn you he'll keep bringing it back to you!" Li kicks the ball hard and the doggy flies with his ears in the air after it. Li pulls out an orange for Sara and begins to peel it; Sara giggles as the doggy returns again with the ball. Li does not giggle.
~ A conundrum. How does Li get rid of the dog, make a friend, find a job, search for day-care and get out of this entire scenario? Pondering. Don't give up Rock! You got this! Why, you've been writing since you were in second grade. End this now or trash it. Hm.
Paulo's grin is undeniably attractive, downright sexy as he saunters over toward Li to retrieve his dog. "Paco, sientate mi preciosa." Then to Li, "I am so sorry, my dog seems very happy to meet you. Paulo takes hold of Paco's collar and snaps his leash on. ~ Ohh, lala! Shall we set these two up? Is Li ready for a hot date? Who will take care of Sara so we can hook these two up? Are you thinking what I am thinking?

Well, well.
Kalthoom had been coming to the park every afternoon for the last two months; she needs a breather from her crowded homelife. Ever since her sister-in-law passed away, her brother who had moved in with her, their elderly parents and a wayward cousin, caused way too much fuss over the smallest of details. She didn't mind cooking for everyone, in fact that was her passion, yet listening to her brother and cousin argue with the television on it's highest possible volume was draining. She liked people watching, seeing how other people interacted. She'd met Paulo and Paco several times but she'd never met Li here. She waved at Paulo who nodded her way as he spoke to Li and retrieved Paco.
Paulo was direct, "Might I have a seat?" ~ Wait, wait, wait. Should we move this fast? Think. YES! Absolutely, we gots to wrap this short fiction up!
Li moved her backpack and continued to feed Sara orange slices; she was uncertain if this guy was trustworthy. ~Is anybody these days?
Paulo continued, "I've not seen you here before. Cute kid! What's her name?"
"This is Sara and I'm Li." ~ that went quite well, ha!
"So, Li what do you do other than come to the park?" Just as he said this Paco's lead slipped from Paulo's hand and off he ran to Kalthoom.
Kalthoom gave Paco a good scratching behind his ears and grabbed his leash. She stood and walked him back to Paulo and Li.
Paulo received her warmly, "Hi ya, Kal! Thanks so much. This is Li and Sara." ~ Now they've all acquainted themselves; ah, us writers are thick as thieves. Look how we manipulate scenarios to reach our goal? *remember to not give up?* expletive****
Okay, I am so done with this entire thing. Here's what happens, Paulo is looking for a paralegal for his law firm and Kalthoom has lots of references for in home child care from the school she used to substitute in. Li takes the job offer, Kalthoom watches Sara and enjoys every minute of it. Paulo has a swanky apartment in mid-town Manhattan and he and Li have super hot sex every lunch hour and eventually get married and buy a summer house in the Hamptons. Kalthoom is hired as their full-time Nanny and leaves her family to fend for themselves and they all live happy forever fucking after. Oh, and the dog. The dog gets a puppy.
