FSSAI is an acronym for the food regulatory authority of India and it basically stands for the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. The Food authority regulates and checks for safe food manufacture, storage and handling practices of Food Business Operators(FBOs). FSSAI license – Types and forms-

There are three types of FSSAI licenses in India which are explained as follows:

Basic FSSAI Registration-

If your business is not big that means you have a business of less than 12 luck, then your registration will be needed. But if your business is more than 12 years old, then you will need a Fossil license.

From the example, we see that if you are doing business of pickle Papad and you want that my business is small then you will need food license. But your business has become very large and your income is getting more than 12 lac, then in that case you will need food license which means a license.

State FSSAI Registration-

If you have a food products business with a turnover of more than 12 lakhs but not more than 20 crores then you will register under state FSSAI license. For people who have branches in different states, for them you need to state each of them. Must obtain license. For example hotels, restaurants etc.

Central FSSAI Registration-

This license is for all those who have a turnover of 20 crores or have branches in more than one state or are exporting/importing food products, then the central license is mandatory. For example - if you are looking for general products in Dubai When exporting, you will have to obtain a central FSSAI license for export.

Documents Required for FSSAI license

• Passport size photo of the applicant.
• Identity proof like voter ID card, pan card, driving license etc.
• Address proof – rent agreement if rented or electricity bill if owned.
• Authority letter with name and address of the nominated person
• Declaration form
• List of food category desired to be manufactured.
• Layout plans and measurement etc.

Procedure for FSSAI license registration-

Following is the procedure for registration in FSSAI

1. After accepting the declaration and selecting your state, you have to select that type of business, for example - manufacturer, importer, export etc. Then you have to choose from different foods given on the website according to your food product.
2. Once you select the correct details, you will have to fill the form based on your turnover type. For example- Form A is used for basic registration in FSSAI.
3. After filling the form you will have to pay the fee and submit your application. Fee payment is different for each state department but in most cases, it is done by DD or cash payment in the department. It takes 45-60 days to get the license after the application is submitted.

In the meantime, the government can send your application back for amendments that will have to be responded to within 15 days or your application will be rejected.
