Custom Made With Love
At the start of the pandemic there was a lot of confusion and uncertainty. We were forced to social distance and stay inside, away from everything and everyone we loved. Most of us looked to better ourselves and finally dive into that hobby that we had been itching to get started. While others decided to finally cave in and join the dangerous realm known as TikTok. You started out by saying you’re only going to watch a few videos to kill time, only to end up awake still at 3am down a rabbit hole you never intended to go down. The content is entertaining; dance videos, cooking videos, tips, tricks, and skits. Anything you can imagine is thrown at you with a flick of your thumb as you scroll through these videos. While a lot of people fell into the everyday obsession with the app, others took that opportunity to launch their own businesses and gain an income by being creative geniuses. The phrase ‘custom content’ took on a whole new meaning, and isn’t looking to slow down anytime soon.

CHANGES IN BRANDING ACCORDING TO CHANGES IN TECHNOLOGY
Remember, when your mother would go grocery shopping, and she’d take you with her. The grocer’s shop would be plastered with posters of many different brands. Your mother would hand over the grocery list. The grocer would check the list, and mention which brands were not available and would offer an alternative brand may even insist on that product stating it is better, cheaper. Mother would then reluctantly agree, use the product for the month, and if it was good, it would become a part of the prestigious grocery list. This is how smaller brands made their way to your home and established brand identity, while bigger brands could afford newspaper, billboards, radio and television ads. The story is different today.

Buys that were worth it
We have all been coerced into buying something from an ad that we just thought too good to be true, or that honestly grabbed our attention so much we had to have it. There has been three times I have caved, although theres been hundreds of other "almost's", that it truly is a relief I didn't have the funds for those times. The first time was a moon plaque that said "to the moon and back", the inspiration from that was because I love phases of the moon and it is also what my significant other says whenever I try to get him to say something cute, so I got it as a surprise for him. Time number two was a Christmas gift for him, it was a canvas from an ad called Animefy.me, and what that is is where the artists draw whoever you want as their favorite anime; my significant other is obsessed with Broly on DBZ and my daughter loves him so I commissioned for him and her to be drawn as DBZ characters on a canvas. Overall the total for that was 120 dollars, but I got a digital nand hardback copy, it was well worth the money and to see the face he had when he opened it. My last splurge was on a onesie from wish.com, it was for my son and it had to do with my favorite TV show, SUPERNATURAL. The cost ran about 17 but it fit true to size and it was worth it considering if I went anywhere else it would have been closer to thirty dollars.

The Ad That Changed My Life
If you're like me, at least in one respect, then you spend some time online: reading, scrolling and dreaming. Imagination goes with the territory. We read the words and the words provoke thoughts. We think about the life we have, and the life we want. Somewhere, in that gap between wanting and having, is where advertising sinks its teeth.
