A lot of times we struggle with finding a way to believe in ourselves. We often look for people to believe in us, our dreams, and ambitions and we forget that it takes belief in self. We can beg friends & family to believe in us, but they are not required to do so. Your obligation is to you. The dreams are not going to come by sitting around hoping and wishing that you would make it to the “big time”. But how likely is it someone will call you and say come audition for this show, or come sing at this arena, or come showcase your art at this museum. No, the work you do will be better once you believe that you deserve that goal.
There is nothing in life that will come easy. Its going to take hard work, dedication, sacrifice, and inner faith to achieve anything that your heart is set on. I will use myself as an example I have attended school five times. Searching for what I thought I was meant to do and who I pretended everyone else wanted me to be. A successful college graduate with a high GPA and a career awaiting me upon graduation. Uh no! That was not me. I did good to get my GED and that was due to me feeling like my younger days in school were not challenging me enough. What I loved to do, What I dreamed I would do was write.
Me writing plays, stories, poems, blogs or really anything so that others would take joy in what I was placing within their eyes. Not just merely for entertainment for the idea that someone somewhere would recognize my talent, and more importantly that I was their inspiration. Nothing in this world would make me happier then using a gift I know in my heart I was given. Sure, I can do many things. But the biggest feeling of vulnerability is behind the pen & pad. That is something we all must figure out you know. What is our gift? What is something we enjoy doing the most that will give us the biggest sense of satisfaction and accomplishment.
Daily I encounter people who I have seen are so talented and yet they still lack ambition. Now I do not say this to come off in any negative way. But I feel the biggest waste of your life is not pursing your dreams daily. I say this now because I know how it feels. I know how it feels to waste my ambitions on jobs that are only wasting my time. I know how it feels to seek college goals knowing full well that what I want to achieve does not mean I need a college background. Now do not get me while I am proud, I graduated twice from college. I am still not where I desire to be. Which has brought me to Vocal. I love that this platform allows me to be my genuine self behind a keyboard. Expressing my thoughts, feelings, and goals with those who may read my material. Whether a blog, or poetry I am grateful to just have my writing seen.
I say all this to say I am now getting to the point where I believe in myself. I believe I can write something so monumental and uplifting that the person reading will hopefully feel empowered to pursue their goals. Ambition is just the starting point to putting dreams to action. But you must believe in yourself. You must be able to stand in the mirror and see the greatness in yourself. You must believe that your destined or greater and then go out and get it. Our family and friends can believe in us. Our spouses can believe in us. But to be honest their belief means nothing if you do not first have the faith to believe in yourself. I hope these words were encouraging and uplifting and that you then take your talents, your skills, and your ambition and aim higher. Aim to get where your dreams are, work hard, push yourself to the max and first and more importantly, BELIEVE IN YOURSELF.
