30 Journal Entries to Self Discovery—Day 14
Happy Mean Girls Day (Wednesday, October 3rd)! Yes, I am wearing pink and welcome to day fourteen of my self-discovery journal! I can't believe I'm two weeks in and thanks again for following along everyday! The quote for today is: "I'm not a very good writer but I'm an excellent rewriter."—James Michener

Believe in Yourself
I saw quite a few posts on here about various mental illnesses and things to try if you felt depressed or had anxiety. Let me level with you. It's not going away easy but as I write to you, I am suffering the same dark thoughts I had six years ago... How am I carrying on? Let me tell you my story and maybe, just maybe, I can help one person.

A Letter to My Role Model
Hello AJ (god this sounds so weird), I don’t know if you’ll read this or not, but I wanted to write to you anyway (boldness maybe) in order to thank you for being an inspiration for me, for always standing up for yourself and most of all for making me feel confident despite my mental illness.

30 Journal Entries to Self Discovery - Day 13
Hey, Y'all! Happy October! Halloween is my all-time favorite holiday and so this is my all-time favorite month! But anyway, happy day thirteen! Sorry for the small day break there. Had a little sickness that I had to get over, but I'm back and back to keeping up on the daily posts! Hope you're all still following along! Here's the quote of the day from another one of my favorite authors (no seriously, go read Fahrenheit 451):"And what, you ask, does writing teach us? First and foremost, it reminds us that we are alive and that it is a gift and privilege, not a right." - Ray Bradbury

I'm starting a blog
I've never had a blog before, but I figure here is as good a place as any to have one. It shouldn't be too hard right? Sharing your life with a bunch of total random strangers on the internet that may or may not be serial killers or psychopaths. Or maybe just a bunch of internet trolls. Anyways, I'm getting side tracked. I was going to tell you about today.

How to Move Across the World
I was born and raised in Iran, and pretty much lived the majority of my life there. When I moved to the United States, I was excited but scared at the same time. I left a whole life of family, friends, and school behind myself for a more comfortable life and a better future. I started sophomore year of high school in a local school in the county that we were living in, and I felt pretty good about myself and my first day. I was so optimistic that I was destined to meet many people and make lots of friends and become that cool main character from the movies that I used to watch back in Iran.

A Journey Through Cancer Pt. 1
So for me, I got kind of a surprise growing up. That horrible "C" word that nobody loves. That's right, cancer. It was a hard journey and that story is for later on in this. It is being served as an encouragement and help to those who think it is over. Believe it or not, it isn't. I thought the same thing but your battle has only just begun and you're not the one that is going to lose.

A Start to Mindfulness for the Broken Minds and Souls
In today's society, humans are so wrapped up in the "rat race;" the "Get up and go" scene. They never really take a moment to spend time with themselves; to nourish their inner beings, at all. Then, we have the tendency to sit back and wonder why we feel the way that we do. Depressed? Hopeless? Lack of purpose? Sick? Stressed? Maybe even angry and impatient all of the time. (I sadly see this way too often.)

Colour Scales
Every now & then life throws a curve ball at you. You plod on with acceptance and knowledge that not changing the status quo is the right thing to do. You see the thing with this mentality is that you loose your self. Your drive, ambition, even who you are. Its such a slow & gradual process you don’t even realise. The gas is barely feeding the light. The life of colour you once had has turned to grey.

Reducing Anxiety: You Are Not Alone
Hi! I'm Shealyn, Shea for short. Like many of you I have dealt or still dealing with anxiety. Anxiety can ruin a lot of things, friendship, relationships, peace of mind, it can also make you ill. Take it from me, my anxiety caused a really good relationship to end, I was constantly overthinking, didn't trust anyone, and was always crying. Anxiety can be very hard to control, (especially at a young age) I went through many episodes of anxiety attacks, panic attacks, it was so intense I would have two to three a day and also get on medication! The thought of having to take medication for my mental health was heartbreaking and terrifying to me... I know it may sound DRAMATIC but it happens. I would not wish this to happen to anyone because it is such an ugly feeling. That is why I wanted to share the things that I noticed to help me out, so maybe it will help others. Anyway, enough about me, lets help you out! :)

Living Life by a Life Clock
I have been wondering why the achievements I have accomplished don't make me feel as happy lately. I feel like my life clock has been ticking and by each second I am falling more and more behind. One big reason behind this is I have always done everything in my life based on what is " normal for my age" and I put that in quotations because everyone has their own definitions on what is normal for their age. Some of the normal for my age things I did:

Motivation for the AARP Generation
Those of us of "a certain age"—meaning that we get a lot of mail from AARP each week—are repeatedly told one message. In their commercials, on their website, in their magazine, in their mailings, etc., those of us in the 50-plus age range are repeatedly told that it's never too late to do great things—and to reinvent yourself and your career.
