The Show Must Go On
How to harmonize, do a perfect box step-grapevine dance combo, change outfits in less than 26 seconds, and make it look like you just punched someone without even touching them are just a few things I have learned in my many years of musical theatre. I have been trained to project my voice, never turn my back to an audience, and improvise when another person on stage forgets their lines.

You, Me, Our Dreams, the Universe, and Our Hidden Power to Achieve
If any human being aspires to become anything more than mediocre, a set of mysterious and unforeseen obstacles will erect its fiery walls in unity against them. These barriers will often detour and discourage dreamers from manifesting their deepest desires in the physical form. These barriers may disguise themselves in the costume of a beloved family member's critique of "You can’t do that" or a friend’s genuine concern of "That’s just not possible." It is not that those you love do not love you or believe in you, it is simply that most people have a tendency to project their own fears, inadequacies, and limiting beliefs on one another without conscious awareness. There will be times in which you feel that even the universe is conspiring against you. Never feel that way because by law the universe, mathematically exact, literally can only give to you the equivalent of what you put out vibrationally. Whatever form the obstacles may appear in, just know they are defenseless in the presence of burning desire and dogged determination.

Learning To Love Yourself
There are a lot of things in this world that are hard to swallow. Whether it be politics, natural disasters, or humanitarian issues we have a lot of bad around us. We also have an incredible amount of good that sometimes gets pushed to the side with the negative always weighing us down. One issue most people deal with on a daily basis is a lack of self-esteem. Even if you feel confident you still have those days where you don’t feel as pretty or as smart as you would like.

One Step Forward
I'm Ashley. I am new to this blog life, but I am excited to be able to let out my emotions and tell my stories for people to hear. I am a mother of two handsome little boys, they are five and one years old. I am in love with their dad and have been for six years. We have had our ups and downs like any other relationship, but I am so happy that we have worked through everything and are better than ever. I love the life we are building together with our small little family. However, it has not come easy. Let me give you a little backstory on my life.

You're Wasting Your Time...
"You are wasting your time... That is not going to get you anywhere... Why are you bothering to do that?" I heard these phrases so many times growing up. It seemed like no matter what I was doing, it was a waste. So many dreams just squashed like a tiny bug under a huge boot. Now all these years later I look back and I wonder just how many dreams of mine were lost. How many talents did I just throw away and let wilt? The hardest part was, I was a child. I was barely if even in my teens. Yet, I still hear those words, echoing around in my head. What would I have become had I had the support in my interests that every child deserves?

Being Average
Being average. I'm a person who's constantly reflective of who I am, the decisions I make, and how I act. What I've noticed is my inner 'fire' or innate nature to do the unconventional. Society often suppresses my ideas but when I do fight back, it feels amazing. However, society is intimidating. And I crawl back into my safety blanket. Now I know, everyone probably thinks that they are "unique" even if they don't consciously think they are. Well let's be real, we're raised as if we're the most special human being ever. I don't think there's necessarily an argument about being normal, or average. In my terms, I'd like to break it down into three aspects.

Thoughts Should Be like Flowers—Let Them Bloom!
Hey all, this is my first article on Vocal and I can't be more excited. Ever since I started jotting down my feelings in high school, I somehow started to love writing and the idea of how immensely it can relieve your stress and anxiety.

Understanding the Autotelic Personality
To begin, it would be prudent for us to start with a definition of the aforementioned concept. Autotelic is defined as “having an end or purpose in itself”; someone with an Autotelic Personality is described as having “a disposition to actively seek challenges and flow experiences.” Flow itself is described as “a state in which people are so involved in an activity (i.e., being in the zone) in which nothing else seems to matter; the experience is so enjoyable that people will continue to do it even at great cost, for the sheer sake of doing it.”

Thoughts of an Older Millennial
I'm a Millennial. I'm an older Millennial, but a Millennial none the less. Loved and spoiled by my parents, unused degrees, high student loan debt, no real savings and no retirement plan. Just a young (or somewhat young), adult barely getting by, trying to find their way in the world. I'm a part of the technology boom and education era; where technology changed the way we think and communicate, and going to school to get a degree and a good job was the plan. The problem with that is that it was the only plan. Yes, I was told to save money. "Always pay yourself" my mother would say. Of course, like most Millennials, I didn't exactly heed that advice. I wasn't capable of seeing the big picture. Unfortunately, even the concept of saving could not prepare me for what was and is to come.=
