New Year, New Rear
We have all fallen prey to the idea of New Year, New Rear! Get that butt in gear and work on yourself is the message. It's a loud message and most of us have heard the thunderous and insistent call of the New Year's Resolution. We accept the idea of resolutions like we accept that the Earth is round. And just like the Earth, after the debachery of the holidays, many of us feel a little round too after the fun and food of the holidays. New Year means we need to start adulting again and pay attention to the details of life, health and wellness.

Beneath the Tree
Although the summer evening was balmy, Liza pulled the tattered shawl closer around her shoulders and slipped out the cabin door, closing it softly behind her. She pressed against the rough-timbered siding and listened breathlessly, heart pounding in her ears. As her eyes adjusted to the dark, she could make out nothing in the night but shrubs and the outline of the tree line as they came into focus. Only a half mile, Sam had said. Only one half mile through the woods to the meeting point beneath the trees. Carefully she stepped forward, her dress catching about her ankles as she made her way towards the trees. Only a half mile and Sam would be waiting with the bag of clothes and small provisions to make it from Hollow Plantation to the next stop. One half mile, beneath the tree.

Whole-hearted Living . Third Place in Fresh Start Challenge.
The beginning of spring; when flowers begin to bloom, songs of animals echo around the surrounding nature, and a gentle breeze can be felt as it caresses the skin. Birth. Life. Renewal. These are a few terms that are often associated with spring, and in turn dictate a large course of our planet's cyclical balance.

If only life came with instructions
Instead of making lists on what I’m going to do – the usual suspects that yearly made the list were to lose a few pounds (not the ones from my purse), socialize more (despite the fact I was beginning to prefer animals to people I have the awareness that not all people suck the life out you and it’s about setting boundaries) I decided to think about what I didn’t want in my life.

Hindsight 2020 was my 2021 Reset Button!
Hindsight 2020 was my 2021 Reset Button! I have always considered myself an eternal optimist but even the eternal optimist struggles in the face of adversity! As COVID19 forced us to be isolated from the luxuries of what we once called “NORMAL” life, I went through what I like to refer to as my “5 stages of COVID life grief”. Like mourning the loss of something you love, I had to mourn the loss of our normal life to get me to a place of acceptance of our “new normal”. Acceptance is what lead me to press the reset button on 2021 and have a “Fresh Start”.

Make and Break We all set New Years resolutions, but why are they so hard to keep? The fresh start seems so promising, but by February we're already over it and back to our old ways. How do we get these goals to finally stick?

20 Before 20
Inspired by this post, and in anticipation of my twentieth birthday coming up in less than a week, I decided that I would create a list of twenty life lessons that I've learned thus far. Seeing as I've only been an adult for two whole years (WOOHOO!!), and my experience has been limited to voting in a municipal election (not even provincial or federal *insert eye roll*) and setting my own doctor’s appointment for the very first time, I don't have much of my own advice to give. That means this list will be primarily composed of lessons that I have learned from other people near and dear to my heart. So without further ado, here goes!

New Year's Resolution Solutions
Goodbye, 2020! It was a challenging year, to say the least. While we all breathe a collective sigh of relief, I like to look at the coming year and see if there are changes I can make. It is interesting, though, because nothing magically transforms just because the calendar switches from December 31, 2020 to January 1, 2021. Yet, the symbolism of it, the beginning of a new year, and the idea of starting anew is alluring enough to set goals to become a happier and healthier person.
