Summer Above the Circumstances
"Alright gents. Same time tomorrow?" Such has become the nightly adieu amongst my roommates and I - our instrument to make light of the everyday loop we find ourselves living. Does anyone find it concerning, even with all the changes over the past few months, how swiftly discipline fades to lukewarm repetition, novelty to routine?

Don't be a Summer Bummer
This year has been a wild ride to say the least and it’s only June. 2020 was going to be my year. From the pandemic, to getting furloughed, to protests, it has been tough to stay positive and see the light at the end of the tunnel. Usually around summertime I have events, weddings, concerts, and parties to look forward to, most of which have been cancelled due social distancing. This year has been going a lot different than expected, yet I am really trying my best to stay optimistic!

Shedding Skin
Sitting atop an oceanside bluff, listening as the echoing clap of waves fizzle into a delicate sea simmer. The pink sun is swallowed by the distant shoreline as I peer out to the horizon. Summer is reborn--a time of pure bliss that comes once a year, filled with intangible, precious memories. Spontaneous road trips, carefree campfire adventures, and deep conversations that go late into the starry night. What characterizes the season is its arid, tropical climate, but what sticks with us most are the outdoor excursions, vacations, and the indescribable nostalgia of our childhood traditions. To put it lightly, the summer of 2020 is unlike any other--our world is navigating a tumultuous pandemic, experiencing tragic events that have spawned radical social change. Humanity has been dealt unwarranted changes that have knocked many off of their feet, postponing major milestones and events such as graduations, weddings, and national conventions. Despite these ever-changing circumstances, we all owe it to ourselves to take advantage of the summer and focus on its true meaning: happiness.

Are you happy?
Knowing your purpose Are you happy? If not, are you trying to make everybody else happy? This is not your purpose. You were not born to please everybody; it is not your responsibility. If you are trying to make everybody happy – stop it – you are attempting the impossible. You will end up miserable and sad.

Ultimate Summer Bucket List
Many of us are currently feeling nostalgic for summertimes past -- ones that weren’t so socially-distanced. We’ve entered into uncharted territory recently, both as a global population and as individuals. The last few months have forced us to pull back the curtain, and confront issues that are uncomfortable and painful. We’ve been faced with a spectrum of emotions, often grappling with feelings of loneliness and helplessness. However, despite the tragedy and loss our world has endured, the last few months have also brought unexpected gifts, like self-reflection, gratitude and kindness. There will still be some of my favorite summer staples (as pictured - hellllooo rosé), but this time around, my summer plans look a little different, because I’ve found there are parts of “life during lockdown” that I feel are definitely worth preserving.

Home: The Place You Discover Everything You Are
I've spent my entire life in the slow-moving pace of a small town. The countryside, though undoubtedly beautiful, comes with many frustrations for a young heart like mine. In a world as small as Cobleskill, you realize that there is so much beyond the invisible walls that we call home.

Why I Woke Up Happy This Morning
The sun rises in the east and sets in the west. This will always be true even after you and I are long gone. It will never stop happening that way unless some universal phenomenon occurs. Hopefully by then, we aren't around for that kind of chaos.

An Introduction to Removing Negative Blockers
My name is Jennifer and I’m an Empath. For a long time, I didn’t realize that I was an Empath. Really, it wasn't something that I was taught as a child. In fact, I still remember the first time that someone told me they thought I was an empath. I remember thinking how insane that sounded. We were shooting a music video (I was an extra) and this person who had been dancing with me just blurted it out. “I feel so much more relaxed around you, are you an Empath?”

So.. you want to Surf?
I could spend infinite hours reminiscing on the countless moments spent in the liquid of our mother Earth, paddling through the thick salt of a blue sea that brilliantly catches the rays of the sun above to then throw them deep inside the pores of my eastward facing skin, decorated with the shine of salt that sticks happily to the unshaven hairs on my cheeks.
