Did you know that affirmations do indeed strengthen us by helping us believe in the potential of an action that we desire to manifest in our lives? Finish What You Started
If you’re anything like me, and you find meaning in everything, this is the perfect article to read. Along my spiritual journey I’ve realized we learn things over time. You never really learn a lesson until you see it from every viewpoint, and even then there’s more to learn. On the weekend of April 27th, I was spending the weekend in Richmond, Virginia. I was sitting through a business conference, and just when I thought that I didn’t need to take anymore notes, this guy comes on stage and starts speaking my language. He starts out by saying

The power of a thought! Before you keep reading... there are rules. Clear your mind from all other things that you have going on in your outside life. Go to a quiet place before you start to read. Make sure you are paying close attention to these pages, because every word I say will give you a gem that you need to hold on to. Enjoy your time to relax, and understand that knowledge is powerful.

Discipline Works
One thing I've always discussed in my stories was the idea of motivation. Motivation cannot be short-handed in what it brings to the table for someone who wants to accomplish a massive feat in their life. Things as small as getting to the gym once a week, to starting a self-employment opportunity. It's been a main factor for many people's success stories, and they all have different motivators behind their stories too. Motivation has been undoubtedly the number one source of my continuous effort to better my life in every possible facet.

What It's Like to Lose Yourself... And Then Climb Right Back Up
I have always felt a great love for life. Here's the thing: Life after high school is strange. You're told it's going to be all fun, that you're going to discover who you are and make big changes that will impact your life forever. But no one ever tells you just how confusing it all is.

Breaking Up with Self Doubt
So I recently decided to begin the journey of breaking up with self-doubt. Let’s be real, self-doubt has kept us all from doing what it is we really want to do with our lives. We come up with great ideas to begin the planning process but never do the necessary leg work because we let our inner negative thoughts deter us. Self-doubt is normal but we have to come up with ways to overcome the fear. One thing I found out about myself is a lot of my self-doubt came from me not wanting to step out of comfort zone. I consider myself to be a pretty independent person and I don’t like asking for help unless I really have no choice. I am a single mother so I’ve always played it safe. So for years, I used the excuse of having children to stop me from taking pursuing a lot of my dreams and goals. Because I now know that about myself, every day I have started challenging myself to one thing a day that takes me out of my comfort zone. These things are sometimes small but it allows me to get a feel of myself mentally and emotionally doing something different. Knowing yourself also plays a major role in self-doubt. Sometimes we think we know ourselves or think we know what we want for ourselves based on other outside factors, but we haven’t taken the time to do a self-report inventory. Just because your zodiac sign is Gemini doesn’t mean you have to feed into the stereotype of having a split personality. Just because you come from a family of nurses doesn’t mean you have to be a nurse. Learn yourself and you’ll find out your true passion. Learning yourself requires some honesty that may be a tough pill to swallow. So after coming up with the topic for today’s episode, I asked several people why they often doubt themselves and a lot of people said “Lack of confidence.” I found this answer interesting because the definition of self-doubt is “lack of confidence in oneself or one's abilities.” Not being confident in your actions will kill your goals every time. I found that the most common way to overcome lack of confidence is believing in yourself. If you keep the mindset of "I’m not where I use to be," you’ll go far with accomplishing your goals.

The Fear of Failure
I will begin with Surviving in the World Tip: #1. This first tip has to do with one of the gushing horrors of the world. The big, bad, crushing, coercive, evils that make us run in fear. FAILURE (Queue the screeching violins, and meandering piano progressions from every horror film). So many of us are afraid to do something, and are scared to be ourselves, because we can’t bear to look failure in the eyes and say F*** you... FREE you, duh! What, did you think I was saying the f-word?

The Killer Power of... Kindness?
Much of the music I hear these days isn’t very wise or inspirational; it seems to centre around the same subjects, which are often selfish, immoral or disrespectful. If I’m listening to music, I want to hear a melody (and a beat) that encourages/inspires/excites/soothes me. Cue Frozen’s "Let It Go"…

Giving Life the Bitch Stare
One of the things I can’t stand is how life has a way of slapping you in the face and then leaving you with the red mark and agonizing pain. Lately, life has been slapping me in the face, and I am not sure why. In my opinion, life slaps me in the face when I set my mind on something and it doesn’t work out or when I swear to start my day off positive and BAM! Something annoying and unnecessary happens. When these different things happen, I want to give life the bitch stare; I want to look at my life and say, "Come on now, give me a break because you’re doing the most and I am at my breaking point." I often have these moments because I realize that I am not in a position in my life that I want to be in, and for some reason, life keeps on going no matter what. I want to give life the bitch stare when it takes a toll on people that are close to me, mainly when their life moments affect my life moments. For example, my husband is going through a lot right now, and if anyone hears his story, you would honestly think that life is purposely screwing him over. My husband and I are a team, so we are going to get through these things together, but damn can we get a break for just a moment? Today I found myself just sitting inside the house all day because it was just way too hot to go outside. A part of me wanted to take the risk and go out with the kids anyway, but instead of doing that I stayed in the house and thought to myself, "Why is my life so dull right now?" This moment made me want to give life the bitch stare because I wanted to be closer to my family, which ended up leading me to the state of Georgia at the beginning of summer; so, of course, it was going to be crazy hot outside. Life has been kicking my ass so bad lately because I don’t have any control of it and I am not sure when I finally will. I want to scream at my life and tell it, "Please be patient." Finally, I want to scrunch up my face, roll my eyes, and roll my neck as I give my life the final bitch stare, hoping that it takes the hint and straightens itself out.
