The Eighth Stand
“Don’t forget to keep your legs straight on that front-tuck step out Bell!” coach Jenn yelled from across the blue spring floor. It was a brisk winter, back in 2015. I belonged to Champions United Gymnastics Academy where I was a JOGA Level 4. Our first competition of the season at TNT Gymnastics. I was warming up my second tumbling pass. A front-tuck step out, cartwheel, round-off back handspring step out. I hear Jenn’s voice in the back of my head, reminding me of what I must correct as I ran and hurdled into the tumbling pass. “Keep those legs straight Bella, keep them straight.” I punch into the front-tuck preparing for the step out, my first leg coming down as straight as ever, almost too straight. Gravity pulled me back down to the hard blue floor, my first leg coming down completely locked, and POP. Before my right leg had the chance to come down, it was already too late. One minute I was rotating through the air trying to perfect my pass, and the next I find myself lying down in the middle of the mat in the fetal position, holding my left knee to my chest. I didn’t know it then, but this was just the very beginning of my 5-year fight.

Yoga for Assholes
This is "Queenie" - She is the mascot for my yoga business, Queen of Hearts Yoga. The night before we found her, sitting peacefully by herself at the front steps near my local coffee shop (great manifesting btw) I had been brainstorming with my housemates about what to call my yoga business. There was certainly no shortage of ideas being thrown around, and Queen of Hearts Yoga was an apt title, but given my inherent streak of rascality, the gang jokingly concluded, that if I were to open an authentic studio, then I would have to call it 'Yoga for Assholes'

Life is a paradigm that sometimes causes various aspects to be influenced, in the life of each human being during their journey from childhood, until reaching adulthood. The time has finally come to write about what many say when they achieve success in their lives.

Inspired To Persevere
I would like to take this essay challenge opportunity to write about one of my professors from my undergraduate studies who was and is truly inspirational to me. Lisa Gralnick taught me far more than metalsmithing, she taught me to be persistent, to persevere no matter how many times I failed, and to never stop striving to achieve my goals in life.

The Everyday Type of Woman We All Need
We were about three days into a world-renowned life and wealth mastery retreat, traveling over 12 hours to the beautiful islands of Fiji in mid-July of 2018. We were sweaty, musty, hungry, emotional, and so keenly aware of how our bodies were processing the fast and juice cleanse that started on day one of this retreat. This was only one of the amazing (and very smelly) portions of the retreat.

As above so below
We are living in promising times of scientific discovery and civil innovation. Harnessing the inexhaustible power of the sun through nuclear fusion, for instance, opens a doorway for a cleaner planet as well as improvement in the efficiency and capability of humanity in all aspects. As modern science supports, the material that comprises our bodies is traceable to the birth of the stars. And every moving part in the cosmic highway, from torrential weather to a mere neurological impulse, reverberates from the inception of the entire universe. The Hermetica, texts as old as the calendar states “As above so below, as within, so without, as the universe so the soul”. It's not too farfetched to consider it intuitive. What I gather is that like the limitless resource that created the planets, our spirits can also run on a renewable resource. Such a foundation is what we find in the examples of strong, achieving individuals that push boundaries of human capability, such as astronauts.

Taking the Plunge
I know this is probably overdone and over thought but it does not make this any less scary. The fact that I am leaving the world of a regular paychecks, health insurance, a daily routine, to go back to school in hopes that I will be able to change my career path to something I am happier with, but perhaps not quite the paycheck I want? To leave and ensure I will be in debt come graduation day and hope to god I find a job in this economy (hopefully post Covid-19 crisis). Unfathomable!
