My New Best Friend
MY NEW BEST FRIEND Sometimes in life, we come across that one special being, that one amazing soul that loves us so deeply, so unconditionally, that we call them our “best friend.” Sometimes, that best friend comes in the form of a sweet four-legged dog, cat, rabbit or other “fur baby.”

A Dream Come True
We all love a heart-warming, animal rescue story. Giving an animal another chance at life or a better home is inspiring. All animals deserve to be loved and cared for. I like to think all pet owners strive to provide the best environment for them. Whether it’s intentional or not, sometimes an animal’s situation has to change. Not every home is the best for them.

‘The Cob’
The stable block was a simple layout with around 12 stables. All with horses happily munching on their hay. I stopped to check my phone and when I looked up there was a gorgeous face peering over—clearly interested in what was happening. I started idly patting and stroking his face and neck, and his owner mentioned he was for sale. I asked a few questions with no intention of buying—I was simply curious about this cute little horse. I found out that his old owner had fallen in love with him in Ireland and bought him over to England, she then had a couple of falls off him which led to him being sent for retraining then for whatever reason he ended up where he was now. The conversation ended with him discussing what price he was going to put ‘the cob’ up for—which even if I had been looking would have been way out of my budget.

Guinea Pigs Galore! Part 2
That first night 3 of the 7 found new homes, leaving us with 4. The girls each get one of the solo ones so they each have their own cage to be responsible for. A and I fell in love with the two long-haired boys. Her with the red/white one pictured and myself with the black & white you can barely see in the background of the photo.

Guinea Pigs Galore! Part 1
A says to me out of the blue, "Can we get a guinea pig for the girls?" She knows I'm going to say to yes. If it's not a person, and it needs a home, I will probably take it in. A is the same way. That's why we've already got 5 dogs, 5 ferrets, 3 cats, 4 rats, and a smorgasbord of fish. D is not the same way at all, although he is pretty understanding when it comes to certain situations, so he quickly caved in this instance.

The Little Kitten That Could (Part 2)
Fast forward to almost a month after having Baby Loki; it's my dad's birthday and my brother and I have freed up some time to fly out to Nevada to see him and spend a couple days out there. (I personally love these trips because the expensive and intense life of living in Southern California with my anxiety gets old and I just love that for a week or two I don't have to worry about work or think about college.)

My First Baby
Little backstory here... my parents have small ranch and have used Border Collies as working dogs but also companion animals. So I knew as soon as a I got attached to this little black fluff ball in a litter about two years ago, that I would be keeping her FOREVER.

Oliver
Let me start off by saying that I absolutely love the feature that Snapchat has where it allows you to view photos taken on this day last year or all the years before. It is a great way to look back and reflect. Usually I laugh at my memories, today I had a faint pang of sorrow as I looked at the photos I took with my cat the day I knew he was too sick and that I would have to take him in to be put down.
