dog
It's no coincidence that a dog is a man's best friend; they're more faithful than most other animals, and more faithful than many people.
Did Somebody Say Squirrel?
As every dog knows, there is nothing better than a long, uninterrupted catnap to get their tails wagging. Especially if this nap is both proceeded and followed by the obligatory treats, head scratches, and cooing of the, “who’s a good boy?”.

Gizmo's Revenge
Gismo’s Two Triggers Years ago, my family had a full-blooded Pekingese. His name was, Gizmo. That’s him in the picture up top. Gizmo was one of the sweetest and easy-going dogs I had ever seen. He had a lot of energy, but he was still pretty laid back and accepting of just about any situation. However, there were always two things that would make him instantly angry and change his attitude. From the time he was a puppy, all the way through adulthood, if he heard the word, “bath” or was left alone, he would turn into a spiteful little thing.

Bella the Good Puppy
I can hear my human’s car revving as she pulls out of the driveway. A daily ritual that occurs at exactly 7:15 a.m. on the dot. The morning air has become crisp and the smell of homemade spiced coffee comforts the kitchen. This is my favourite season: the one where the trees shed their coats, leaving the streets painted with brightly coloured leaves. Every morning before she leaves, my human takes me out for a short, brisk walk. My warm breath is visible as it spurs out of me like smoke. I pretend I’m a dragon while I hop along the grass looking for the perfect spot to relieve myself and simultaneously mark my territory.

The Chronicles of the silliest Guard Dog
Knock, knock. My eyes snap open. Knock. My ears prick. Knock, knock. This must be it; the enemy. I leap from the sofa and send out an alarm call. Quiet. I run to the kitchen and grab the nearest weapon. This is what I've been training for. Knock, knock. Again? The enemy is persistent. My cry for back-up has proven futile so I try once more, louder this time. I wait, grasping my weapon firmly. I will not let the enemy win, I need to make the humans proud, if only they were here now to see how brave I am being.

Jorge’s Door Watching Sleep Routine
Jorge’s Door Routine When Only I Was Home He has since passed away, but the family dog, Jorge, had a routine that he would perform every time my parents were gone. His routine only changed slightly when there were no humans at all in the house. When my parents were gone, he would alternate between staying on my heels and going to check to see if there were any indicators that they had returned. Of course, I never could figure out why he would constantly check the door, after all, he could hear someone outside from inside, even if he was on the other side of the house from where they were.

Living With a Dog Who Stole Our Heart
My Heart Melts I’m sitting on the sofa cuddling my precious dog, Chewy, while he lies on my lap. I can’t help but smile with the loving feeling that takes over me while I stroke his soft back. He sleeps so innocently and his snoring just broadens my smile. I love my husband dearly, but I have to admit that Chewy’s snoring is the only one that brings a smile to my face. Even though my leg feels numb, I can’t bear to move because I don’t want to disrupt his rest.

Mom's Gone
My sister Sophie and I were laying outside in the warm October sun. Trying to be good girls for our mom who was resting after having a heart attack. It had been a very scary couple of days. Our grandma was taking care of us while momma was in the hospital recovering. We were both very worried about our momma, she takes care of us and we missed her a lot. She did come home and while she looked tired and sore we could tell she was feeling a whole lot better. For a few days she just stayed at home and rested but eventually she said she needed to run some errands.
