humanity
Isn't it ironic that the very best of humanity is seen through the love and empathy we show to our pets?
Animal testing should be banned
Experimental animals are forced to endure pain and suffering and violate animal rights for the benefit of humans. Animal tests do not help humans either, as they have been shown to produce negative results because the human body and system are different from animals. Because humans and animals vary, negative results are the future of scientists who do not stop replacing animals with humans.

Friends
I was tired and worn out. I had spent the day doing chores, being around people, and I just had to get away for a bit. This old barn was my favorite hideaway. Found on the back part of our acre property, it totally looks like it doesn't belong in a suburban area. Mom liked the house and lot because it was on a street lined with similar houses. Dad liked it because this acre lot was odd shaped with this old barn far in the back near the boundary of our property. The lot was almost a rectangle with chopped off corners. From the sky, our lot looked more like a diamond, with the biggest corner lining the street.

To My Jet
My Beloved Jet: Do you remember when we meet each other? I don't know how could I explain how much I’m admired at you by the first time I saw you at home. You're very serene, polite, obedient and a smart cat ever seen before. Some of the people consider “special” to those who have cats, and they have reason, since the day I got you, I have felt so special to have you by my side. And also you are so special. You are so amazing. You have become my best friend, my muse and true love (Sorry to my boyfriend) for a few days.

Some people are dog people
Before we had the home we do now, Sean and I lived out of a camper. At the time, it made sense—we were traveling cross country for work and didn’t have money to rent a place we weren’t going to use. One July, we were parked at my grandparents’, next to Great Uncle Herman, who was visiting from Vegas and also staying in a camper. Sean and I had gone down the road to watch the Baroda fireworks when I felt my phone vibrate. It was Uncle Herman. He’d seen our cat roaming in the yard, but not to worry, he’d put her back inside for us.

PASSION IN A FURRY BROWN AND WHITE SLOBBER PACKAGE
Dogs are man's best friend. Whoever wrote this is genius. Just look into those soulful eyes and you will fall instantly. If not, then perhaps you better question whether you have a soul. If you were to ask any of my friends what I was passionate about, they would respond with one or all three of these; football, dogs, or education. I was drawn to dogs at an early age. My earliest memory is of my mom knocking on someone's door and me putting my face up to the screen as a Doberman Pincher looked out from the inside. She scolded me for being fearless and said if that dog had been mean, it could have bitten me. A mean dog? Humans are inherently mean. Dogs are just instinctual animals that can turn mean if mistreated. We were raised with German Shepherds, another breed that has a bad reputation like Dobermans. Friends and cousins alike were deathly afraid of these dogs. Not once were we ever bitten or growled at, and I would not have wanted to be the person who posed a threat to their tiny humans. There is a reason dogs have short lives. They are better beings than humans.

Furry Friends
I don't just love animals, I'm a little obsessed with them. I have always been compelled to approach them, touch them, ‘talk to them’. I just want to be with them. Constantly. Nothing makes me feel more alive than being amongst animals. Whenever the local fair comes to town my grown up daughters leave me in the petting zoo while they go and look around the stalls or on rides. There is something very special about having an interaction with another being (from a different species to my own). It really makes my heart sing to have just a moment where I feel a connection to an animal through touch or eye contact or just being close to them. It is a thrill to be able to sit with an animal who feels comfortable with you. In that moment I feel as though we are communicating. We are in agreement that we are friends, we are both safe here with each other. It is a real honour to experience this for me. It gives me a feeling of acceptance, acknowledgement, without expectations. I am just being accepted for being me. There is nothing more rewarding to me than earning the trust of an animal.

Jurassic Era Survivor
In November 2020, I took my first masked and shielded flight, from Scandinavia to East Africa, I was headed for "the bush," Randlien Wildlife Management Area of Tanzania. This travel was going to be spent in the company of animals in their natural habitat. I imagined "the big” and "the scary.” You know, the usual unusual; trunks, horns and fierce canines. I never could have guessed an itsy bitsy raptorial critter would show up begging for a selfie. As a result of our unexpected encounter, I came to appreciate the intricacy of biological cycles necessary to hold nature in check, even since dinosaur times.
