Photography in 2021
I first took up photography as a hobby in order to make a little extra money. I was less than successful, even after a few years. For a couple of good reasons. I wasn't exactly on top with popular demand. And everyone I reached to on social media only looked and gave comments. Even after setting up my own photography site. One that offers prints, mugs, bookmarks, etc... I still make little to no money. And I haven't taken any new photos worth uploading in a long while. I even thought of offering to do photography services in my spare time briefly. But I decided to stay home when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. 2020 wasn't exactly a good year for anybody. But with 2021 just around the corner. I've decided to do things a little differently for the upcoming New Year. I'm seriously considering on taking up a pro photography course online. I really hate to brag, but I'm fairly skilled as an amateur photographer. But I figure my best bet on getting an actual photography job or set myself up as a freelance photographer is to get a professional certification. I know for a fact that tuition for an online photography school isn't gonna be cheap. Then again, the camera I have my eye on is also rather expensive. And I'm considering a laptop tablet to use for business purposes. I'm expecting it to be bit of a gamble. But it's a gamble I look forward to taking. Maybe I'll get to be a self-employed photographer with well paying clients. Or at least a side-hustle that'll cover the expenses for a long overdue vacation.

Clueless but hopeful
I recently opened an account on Clickasnap, which is a site similar to Shutterstock; where you can post your images and people can purchase them. Clickasnap also pays its premium users per 5 second original view. The site isn't limited to just photography. You can also upload original digital art. Being a fairly creative person, I was excited about the prospect of being able to upload the PNG images I create and post a fee for anyone who wanted to buy them. It was an idea inspired by my recent purchase of a Cricut machine and the ability to create my own images with my Huion digital art pad; then transfer those into the design space program in order to create completely original designs, which was something I did for personalizing gifts over the holidays.

I Quit My Job to Live Photography
The photos are a great symphony, alchemy, colors, inventions, different ways to contemplate the universe! Photographing and how to play the piano and let myself be carried away by notes, colors, sensations, seeing the wind blowing the clouds, the solar rays tinting our sky, which looks like a film from the mythological era, it reveals our self.

The Ultimate Guide to Marketing Your Photography on Pinterest
When thinking about marketing photography on social media, many ignore Pinterest. This is primarily because a lot of people don’t know or understand Pinterest. They believe it is a recipe sharing or wedding planning site for women or a place for do-it-yourselfers to share projects.

Do People Know You Are a Photographer?. Top Story - January 2021.
I’m not talking about full-time professionals with a studio or a wedding photographer. I’m talking about part-timers or stock or nature photographers that do most work in private and isolated from the public. I try to always have business cards on hand, and I’ve covered my office walls with my work, to create a conversation about my photography. But how many casual acquaintances know that photography is a craft and business that I am pursuing?

Photographerlife. Or not. . Top Story - January 2021.
So, I'm a photographer. A pro, a professional. Someone who gets paid for their work. (Often the only difference between a pro and and none pro is Public Liability insurance and a tax return. Having that 'Pro' status doesn't make anyone better than anyone else. I'm under no illusion! )

First photo shoot of 2021.
Wake up. It was 6am and my alarm was buzzing, I have a Fitbit that I use as an alarm, instead of some horrible loud noise I get a gentle vibration on my wrist, it really is a great way to wake up, plus I set it to wake me when I am at my lightest sleep so I wake up easier and feel better when I do. Despite having to leave in half an hour I was sluggish to say the least.

Importance of a test shoot.
Recently I was contacted to do a shoot at the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens, which as it turns out I have never been to. I'm sure we have all been to Mt Cootha Botanic Gardens but how many of you have been to the Alice St ones? This shoot was booked for a Thursday afternoon at 5pm and being that I have never been and its location I decided I should probably go and check it out and do a test shoot.

A photographers life
I am often told, a plan is only as good as its back up plan. Once again this has proven true and I'll explain. I had booked the studio out for a pretty decent session, four hours if I recall correctly, heaps of time to set up, shoot and pack up. I was planning to do a fitness style shoot as I really wanted to have that in my portfolio. I messaged a model that I had worked with previously and knew would be perfect for this and would be great to work with (as always), created a moodboard, researched lighting setups and everything was going well, until it came to make up.

Jingle All The Way
This Christmas postcard from 2000 is the product for when your sister is seven months pregnant, and you are a muse for your photographer friend, Tony Stamolis. Tony booked a holiday show in NOHO at a beloved hole in the wall bar, Tom & Jerry's. Though he had a smorgasbord of photos for his exhibit, he needed some with holiday spirit. My sister and I, as models, offered all kinds of perks for his creative eye. She had the perfect gift in her belly and I came with bells and whistles. I wish I had that photo of my sister with the big red bow on her belly to add to this story. If you will, picture on a blood-red wall backdrop, a profile of a taught, perfectly shaped basketball sized stomach decorated by a red sticky tape bow. That photo made the cut for the exhibit, as did this photo of me taken 20 years ago. Tony liked it so much, he turned it into the invite mailer, and I used it as a Christmas card that year.
