Surviving 2025 as a Product Manager — or anyone in tech, really
It’s probably not a good idea to write an article after having only slept for 6 hours in the past 48 hours. I just flew across the globe to spend Christmas with my family back home. Officially, I’m now on holiday, but I still have a lot of work to do, including interviewing PM candidates and writing/rewriting 2025 strategies. It’s currently 4am and jetlag + high dopamine levels from interviewing a good candidate are keeping me awake. My brain keeps replaying the interview and the stuff I wrote for the strategy — and somehow it’s tricking me into thinking that writing it into an article is a good idea.

My First ANZAC Day Service.
My morning started with my alarm beeping loudly at 4am. I was going to my first ANZAC Day dawn service in my remote country town in Queensland Australia. I moved here a few years ago, it's a wonderful friendly town, with old buildings beautifully preserved.

Just a couple of Kids. Runner-Up in Through the Lens Challenge.
Almost three months after turning 60, my wife and I received an amazing gift in the birth of our first grandchild, Campbell. Life in one of its enduring ironies determined that he would come into the world the day following the memorial service for my wife's brother, Ken.

Unlawful Night Walk. Runner-Up in Through the Lens Challenge.
This is the long grass that grows in a sixty-acre field just fifty yards from my home. There is nothing notable or special about the grass, it’s the kind of plant that takes full advantage of somewhere we don’t take much notice of; it seeds by chance, is grown by apathy and lives out its life on poor soil.

The point of roses
Flowers are a waste of time. You can’t eat them… or so my dad vowed and declared most of his life. His bugle shaped Gramma Pumpkins grew crazily on his woodpile. Mum, the Culinary Queen added sultanas and nuts to transform them into tasty, sweet pies for our dessert bowls. For years, flowers were grown by Mum… including vibrant nasturtiums (edible ‘bread and butter’ flowers).

The Struggles Of Wigan: A Real Story
The Struggles of Wigan: A Real Story Wigan, a town in Greater Manchester, once thrived as a significant centre for coal mining. The echoes of hard work and dedication lived on in its streets, celebrated by the families of miners who carved their lives in coal and grit. But after years of economic shifts and policy decisions, Wigan faced a harsh reality—a struggle exacerbated by changes in immigration patterns and a government that seemed to favor others over its own.

Teenage Me vs. the Technological Apocalypse
Going through old boxes of life’s accumulated detritus can uncover forgotten scraps of the past and send one down a rollercoaster of intense personal sentimentality, which is why I tend to put it off. It’s more than just the cringe of seeing one’s former-self, or worse, reading things this familiar stranger has written. These discoveries may cause pangs of embarrassment, especially when it is a collection of relics from one’s teenage years, but it is important to pardon oneself by remembering that the person so revealed, in form or thought, was subject not just to the zeitgeist of the era, but also existed without the benefit of a fully developed brain.

ARCTIC BLAST
It's January. It's Winter. It's that time of the year when it snows. Except, snow rarely descends and covers the Dallas, Ft Worth area. Yet, the area is known for its occasional Arctic blast ice storms. Arctic blasts with ice storms are dreaded. Snow is a hundred percent better than sleet and ice.
