Am I Free To Go Now?

A Poem

Am I free to go now?

Am I free from the spell

Of this Odyssean hell

Trapped in someone’s paradise

They say,

“Oh, but it’s so nice”

To them perhaps

But I’m tired of feeling hopelessly homeless

Tired of munching on lotus

I did not need to stay

For what I witnessed today

I saw it coming

Near yet far away

No need to go out of my way

No need to make them pay

They do their best

To put me to the test

But I just move out of the way

And let the universe

Chaos

Work its magic

Another fantastically tragic tale

Of someone going out of their way

To make my day

Not knowing that I do not care

Because I know it is coming

I can hear the humming

Of my shadow’s drumming

The time has past

So, alas

I ask again

Am I free to go now?
