I heard the ceaseless roar of fire as my ship went up in smoke,
The acrid taste of ash and fear wrapped tight around my throat.
I gripped the splintered railing in a helpless, hopeless plea.
A fresh breeze cut thought the billows with a whiff of salty sea,
And I swear, now on a galleon miles away, I can still see fire on the sea.
