slouching, like Yeats’s beast on the way to Bethlehem,
prefaced with “maybe” and “probably won’t happen,”
It’s all she ever wanted: to erase me from your life, while you lavish attention
on her little dog, tell her she’s the only woman in the world,
pay an exorbitant premium
to ensure this house of cards
kills a witch
when it tumbles down.

The Devil's Triangle
The sails ruffled in the breeze as we cruised along. The Sea Breeze was a mid-size catamaran that sailed out of Royal Naval Dockyard in Bermuda. We had booked this trip weeks in advance and were now looking at our Captain, Spike and two boat hands. Paddy and Wilson seemed like nice guys, joking around with the passengers and telling us some stories about Bermuda that only locals would know. Their island accents sounded almost British but they were pleasant to listen to.

The allusions, the metaphor "house of cards," the sarcasm, and the ironic tone ("kills a witch" and "tumbles down") show that you know exactly where to reach to bring a visceral imagery of how you feel. No abstract thought was found here. I understand and felt your misery and their treachery. ♥️🤗🖤
