Beach Safety!
What’s to know, let’s jump in the ocean, nice and hasty…
The Beachsafe website advises beach users to learn the rules.
What’s to learn? It’s the beach, we’re not fools!
Check times of the Surf Lifeguard Patrol.
7:00am till 5:00pm. I wonder if the water will be very cold.
Check beach conditions before entering the water.
Good idea! Guess I’ll be going alone, if it’s too rough for my daughter.
Only swim between the red and yellow flags.
Easier said than done when a turbulent wave breaks — churns me like I’m in a washing machine — then drags!
Remember! Always check for rips.
They reckon the water’s darker with less waves… no way I’d risk getting caught in a deadly undertow’s grip!
Black and white flag: Surf-craft riding area.
Is that where I morph into a dolphin on my red body board, and ride the waves in euphoria?
Warning! Beware of Marine Stingers!
Phew! How kind of the deadly Box Jellyfish and Irukandji not to venture this far south. Bluebottles are bad enough... they’d make me feel I’ve been put through the ringers.
Yellow Flag: Potential hazards. Caution required.
Hmm. Best I chat with our friendly Lifeguards. They’re happy to share any info they’ve acquired.
Red and white flag: Evacuate the water!
Well, that settles it. Swimmers are streaming out onto the beach, just as they oughta.
Red flag: No swimming.
Drats! I wonder what’s happened — my eyes stare, squint and scowl — all the while, the water they’re skimming.
Attention Swimmers! Evacuate the water immediately!
Attention Swimmers! Evacuate the water immediately!
It's a beautiful summer’s day, after a bout of rainy weather. Is that a shark’s fin, I see?

Thankfully, I’ve never sighted a shark and am not keen to!

Who would have thought there's so many rules to swimming? I love your take on this. Some can turn anything into art, you've done it masterfully.
Great instructions, and photo's and the imagery was superb. It reminds me of home, your photo's. I live in a coastal state, and the photo's make me homesick to go down to the ocean. Nicely Done Angie.
I'll take a concreted pool any day over the ocean, but love to hear the rhythm of the sea. Great instructions, by the way and images.
Beautiful, Angie! I loved how you weaved your personal responses and reflections into the public announcement.
You did a really great job with this. I will eat my left shoe if this does not place in the challenge results. Great job, Angie!
Gosh, why can't one just be able to swim peacefully? Lol. Loved this!
Haha! I had a laugh at the point about swimming in between the flags. I do usually start off that way. Luckily, I've never seen a shark at the beach, but I've seen the helicopters flying overhead and the life guards telling us to get out! It's a pretty common occurrence in Perth.
