Forty years old

Busy all one's life but achieving nothing

By LunaPublished 10 months ago 1 min read

Standing at the threshold of forty and looking back, all the stumbles and falls of the past have turned into the rings of life. Looking forward, the road ahead is still full of infinite possibilities. Forty is not the end of youth, but the beginning of another kind of youth.

Just as the poet Eliot said: We will not cease our exploration, and the end of all our exploration will eventually return to the place where we set out, but it is the first time we truly know this place. At the age of forty, one's life should be so composed and passionate, accepting one's fate without accepting it, mature without being worldly. In the long river of time, one should compose one's own song of life.

It's still the same old saying: In one's forties, one should not complain about the vicissitudes of life, not show one's sharpness, and not lose one's vigor. Even if one is exhausted, one should still struggle with the passage of time!

I am 42, and I think of mortality and gratitude for living healthy.

Great insights. "We will not cease our exploration." I have to say, I'm 47, and in a lot of ways, I feel like I'm just getting started!

Love it! As someone who has recently entered her 40s, I love looking at it as the beginning of another kind of youth!
