if you happen to be looking around
if you see the bleak picture that you found

I don't know why he took your life from you that night
things have not improved since he put out your bright light
things have gotten worse in the world despite God's might

if you could see what was going on below
if you could see what all it shows
you would see a world at odds with all its foes

the garden is full of seeds that are suppose to grow
you stood for courage, you fought in a war
you fought for a child, that wasn't yours
because you felt she needed you more

but today that child turned their back on your memories
does genetics play a part of everyone's legacy
