I remember when there were giants

One of them stomped.

One of them roared.

.

Another, never spoke a word, when the planets hummed near their ears

Or spat lightning down at their toes.

.

It was never fair on the third giant, whose tears carried the special seeds

Of all the plants the birds had never seen before.

.

The third giant gave gifts,

And when they finally stomped and showed their roar, all that happened was a crack in a glacier.

It began to melt and soon there was a small pool of water down through the forest they had made.

.

It was nice for the birds to have water not stuck from the sky.

It was nice for the giant to have roared and stomped.

.

The other giants paid no attention to the planet the third one returned to.

The other giants did not realise where the trees and the birds and seeds had come from.

Nor did they drink from the ocean’s glacier; gifted from the galaxy and cracked by the giant who cried because they had flattened a tree with their wildness.

.

Yet peering into the glacier that had broken it’s cold-hearted shell

And gifted the planet something to look forward to,

The giant saw underwater galaxies

Glowing with potential.

Glowing with the love and the hope and the joy that they thought this world had never shown

.

It was only just hiding behind the force of a giant's stomp.
