A poem from a heart emerging from a storm

I am the Earth born human.

My seasons come and go,

Rotating with the open warmth of summer and the bitter reclusion of winter.

Reborn with the optimistic future seeking of the spring,

Ready for the possibilities of what fortune could bring;

And the fading life of autumn,

A reminder that all things must come to an end.

At times I embody the hopeful buddings of a vibrant garden,

Gifting others my colors and sweet fragrance,

And at other times I hide into myself,

A damp and cold cave filled with the echoes of those not so distant voices of disappointment and lies.

I am the gentle showers that come to nourish,

And the whiteout blizzards that trap with ice and hazardous conditions.

I am the sweltering hot afternoons that come to dry out and chase away life,

And the twisting storms that come with the intent of destruction.

I am the calm sea that artists paint with strong mountains,

And the towering waves that decimate ships.

I am the golden sunset after the tornado sirens fade and the rain subsides,

And I am the reminder that for every violent storm there's a brilliant sunrise.

Nothing lasts forever and that includes the darkness and the shadows.

As humans we ebb and flow,

We rise and set,

And we are incredible bits of stardust experiencing the highs and lows of existence.

Like the biting cold of winter,

Sadness can ache and burn us to the core

And eat away at everything we are.

But like the welcoming warmth of a late spring morning,

Hope is always waiting to remind us that there is good within ourselves.
