Sweet, Sane, Sunflower.
As Women we stand taller together.

Sweet, sane, flower;
Don’t bend too low.
Don’t break your spine.
The bud is young,
She’ll learn to shine.
As all the other flowers are
Sweet, simple, sane,
Teach the bud to be
tall…delicate…brave.
Not brave to bend and smell better flowers, but brave to stretch, and stay tall under the pressure.
As your sister in the sky—
A comet wandering by—
Ponders how to stop her momentum,
to stop for a moment to smell the planet’s flowers…
after the sun melts
into the horizon,
And darkness ensues
to capture the light.
Sweet, sane, comet.
Be patient and steady.
Don’t wish upon a shooting star
To land in a field of sunflowers
Just to find out who you are.
Because one in the same
You both look to the other
Wondering how they shine so bright
In a world unforgiving
that could snuff out their light.
