He Snores Like a Train on a Track
All I want is quiet sleep

He Snores Like a Train on a Track
He snores like a train on a track,
full steam ahead, no holding back,
starts with a rattle, builds to a roar,
then somehow manages even more.
My pillow’s no use, I’ve tried every trick,
nudging, sighing, poking with a stick,
he grins in his sleep, not a care in his head
while I lie wide-eyed on the edge of the bed.
I swear last night the walls all shook,
a framed old photo even shook its hook,
the cat ran off, the kettle whined,
and still he snored, completely blind.
At dawn he wakes and says, “Slept well?”
I glare, but he’s too smug to tell.
So I just smile and softly say,
I booked us a trip… on a sleeper train.
