Note: usually, I would put this under my 'Political' series of haiku, but this began as a response to Harper Lewis' 'Bullet to the Face' entry, and I felt I had to share my work...and her own.

  • I protested when Rodney King was beaten by the police. The gangs decided to let Los Angeles burn and only after he said: "We all can get along. We all can get along. We all can get along. " did the fires end.

  • Power to being a teacher. I grew up in the ghettos of Los Angeles and wondered why the hell anyone would teach in Hell. Yet my teachers loved me and became my family, the only ones who cared. I miss them.
