When the fever of change arises
there will be a flickering moment in your heart,
it will tell you to cave into the flames,
and become monstrous.
But this is a farce, my friend,
and you shouldn't cave into the heat,
tempting you to stay curled in on your old self-
Instead,
set the fire aside and embrace the cold plunge,
hold your head willingly underwater,
open soft eyes into salt-
and willingly,
feel the changes of the tide.
Shall I write thee a sonnet?
Because change does not come easily,
and in the sea, it's hardly gradual,
so,
float without a life vest,
and touch the white waves like a friend,
to fully understand what it means,
to become a new man.
