Twists and Turns

It's like watching your back at every turn

Playing it down but then you learn

Your path of recognition was spot on

Something you once doubted but now it soaks in you weren't wrong

And some claim delusion but they're the ones lying through their teeth

Trying to belittle you and make you feel weak

Because through your own perception they can bring you down

Then they no longer see competition

Watching you with a smile as you fall down

It's rare not to feel apprehension when someone is nice

You wonder what their motive is and hope the interaction won't end in a fight

You pay attention to their body language

What they say and what they do

Then you put it all together so you can analyze the truth

And some claim delusion but they're the ones lying through their teeth

Trying to belittle you and make you feel weak

Because through your own perception they can bring you down

Then they no longer see competition

Watching you with a smile as you fall down

Not everything is bad

There's always a diamond in the rough

It's just a matter of patience trying to find it

While you're sorting through the fluff

And some claim delusion but they're the ones lying through their teeth

Trying to belittle you and make you feel weak

Because through your own perception they can bring you down

Then they no longer see competition

Watching you with a smile as you fall down

Dimensional Tension

Awkward tension in an unfamiliar dimension of emotion

And the commotion in my head is much louder than the silence outside

As if a white lie had blown up into a delusional reality that I just became aware of

It's difficult to comprehend a new environment and ignore the insistence that what I'm seeing is just a cover up

When all I've been taught that what was real isn't the truth at all

People all wear masks and when the masks are forgotten, facts are given that create a full story

The full story is nothing like I knew

People play different characters, situations are more intense, and I don't know where I belong

Finding myself lost but determined to find foundation and make an equation of the new information

Paving a new road through faith and walking blindly through the mist of the unknown

Hoping I can locate something different than what was formerly sewn

Strain

With an anxious heart and strained mind

I stop counting down the time

Hoping every second lasts longer than the last

Because as they say time goes fast

And in this world we all wear different hats

And without each other we're not intact

But what they don’t mention is it's all a blur

By the time you can think you're rewinding a whir

Because you can't see it while it's right in your face

When it's occurring there's parts you erase

But when you stand back you realize what you missed

And by that time it's in the abyss

So as we move forward maybe we can all take a beat

And see what we have right in front of our feet
