Is there one definition?

The inner child exists deep inside

Just look at a person closely and you will see behind

The experienced societal beliefs and behaviored conformity

That there is a fragile and vulnerable person that normally

Isn't shown to the world for fear of rejection or pain

So instead of revealing it people mask the innate

But when a tumultuous situation occurs

The inner self sometimes forgets the mask and pursues

The deeper part of the personality is allowed to persist

And honesty and a fragile innocence assist

Now the layers of the onion are all peeled apart

There's only the basic truth and heart

It is here that you can see moral value, pain, and hopes and dreams

And a person can rebuild themselves from the seams

When they rebuild they can restart

And bring positivity into a world that is torn apart
