Winter's First Frost

the leaves have all fallen

a crunch under boot lined feet

and the long growing cauline

have all withered at the frost

that has come just this morning

for all awake it will greet

and there is given little warning

to the touch of snow that has crossed

across the shivering yards

that means winter has befallen

.

the nip in the air has just churned

a biting of cold that brushes ones cheek

and the core in your body will yearn

to savor the warmth that it bleeds

the world is too still

and under the beauty its bleak

the wind it comes in a shrill

as the autumn concedes

to the evern smothering winter

that has yearly returned

.

its really quite sad

this turn of the season

when all the world is just clad

with a blanket of pure white

its cold and its painful

this winter air for no reason

and being honest I find it disdainful

that we lose the comforting daylight

in exchange for this extended darkness

and the remembrance of the autumn we had
