Under Purple Clouds
Every night at midnight, the purple clouds came out to dance with the blushing sky. It was around 2006 when this precisely described recurring two-part dream appeared in my life… The first part always somehow indicated midnight: Cinderella running out of a palace losing a shoe, or an unrealistic tower in a fairy-tale town with a clock striking midnight. That was followed by a strange inner feeling of inadequacy, the feeling that I was missing something important in life. The feeling that I should recollect something, something crucial, something important, something relevant—before it was too late—before the second part of the dream would appear, and the purple clouds would come out to dance with the blushing sky. Why? What was it about? Why was it persecuting me every day, every night, and whenever I took a nap? What the hell was it about?

I Was Admitted to a Psychiatric Hospital. Here is my Experience
By the fourth day in the clinic I had grown doubtful of my motivations, the motivations of the government. Why do I want to feel ‘better’? Why would the public system pay for a private stay so that I can feel ‘better’? I won’t lie, my writing had something to do with it… and, there it was again, atmosphere. I sat in an armchair facing the window as the sky turned lilac around the big public housing complex.

Reading after escape
I used to devour books. They were a bigger part of my personality than the stunted personality I actually had. I used to read more than I talked to people. And like many oddballs, my closest relationships were entirely fictional. In hindsight, this escape went from being my get-away-car, smash in case of emergency, get out of jail free card, and evolved into my own great escape, tunnelled for months at a time, supported by bowing and cracking beams, and susceptible to cave-ins. Leaving me closed off totally from reality. With danger on either side, and running out or air fast.
