Basic Make-Up When I was in school and for a few years after, make-up was a means of smoothing out skin tones, concealing blemishing, and accentuating your features. You had concealer, foundation, blush, one to three eye shadow colors, lipstick, a thin layer of eyeliner, and mascara. Some also opted to use an eyelash curler. You also only needed a few make-up brushes.

I'm not afraid to admit my sense of style is pretty lame. My closet basically consists of concert t-shirts and a few dresses that hang there and look pretty. I do have some nice clothes but honestly I don't keep up with all the latest trends. I wear whatever I feel like that day.

I’m Never in Fashion
Don’t ask me what I’m wearing. It’s not designer friendly and I didn’t run out to get my look because someone else is sporting it. My favorite fashion trend is my own personal style. I prefer going against the weave of the fashion fabric. I don’t rely on trends. I simply ignore fashion magazines. I’m a fashion rebel and I hide in a renegade fashion closet. I’m not the only one. We’re the gals and guys thrift shopping for kicks and on the hunt for something that fits well rather than fits in.

MULLET
On the back wall of the NU2U thrift store in Laramie, Wyoming, below a bull elk mount, was the most majestic effing thing I have ever seen. It was a black leather jacket with white sleeves and red stripes with a blue "USA" on each arm. On the back- an American flag. It was so high up on the wall that I was convinced it was not for sale. Not that I would blame the thrift store for not parting with such a work of art. Like a moth to flame, like drunks to Taco Bell, like democrats to free shit, I was hypnotized by the jacket. I floated to the wall. When I reached it my heart was pounding. There was a tag on it. So it was for sale, but at what cost? I assumed they would keep the price so high that buying it would be entirely unattainable without a bank loan. I conjured the courage to look at the price. It said "36-". I was shocked, confused, happy, then infuriated. Was that the jacket size? Was it the price tag but missing a zero or two? But no, it really was only 36 dollars. It didn't matter that it was two sizes too small. I had to have it. But I had to be worthy of it as well. That's when I knew I had to grow a mullet.

Fashion Time Capsule: Nostalgia I Didn’t Know Existed.

I was born in the late 90s (‘99 to be exact), but I never really experienced the 90s era, because mainly I would’ve been too young to mentally remember and also because I was born at the end of the decade. Growing up, I mostly saw fashion in the late 2000’s and 2010’s. I wore the matching tracksuits, merch from TV shows, and vests with jeans growing up. (whenever I wasn’t wearing the school uniform)
