COVID - 19

Diary

By Kieko Kazi Published 6 years ago 4 min read

I live in New Hampshire where there's two hundred and fourteen cases of people who have tested positive for the Coronavirus and two have died. No one knows if that's the accurate numbers because we all follow something different, social media, newspapers, and the tv. Even then how do we really know everything is actually true? It could be, but what if someone said the wrong number, hit the wrong button, or recorded something falsely on purpose to try and reveal some "new" news.

The virus was originated in China, said live marketing animals such as cattle, cats, and bats all carry a strand of the COVID - 19 that was transferred from animal to human but CDC.gov has written that people that weren't exposed to the market ended up with the virus, meaning it somehow changed into human contact. There was a rumor someone had eaten a bat and that's how it started, others believe that it started in a lab to cover the making of bioweapons China was making.

I didn't think it could get as bad as it is, even though the government is making it sound like it's not too major. I've seen people in videos fighting over toilet paper, hand sanitizer, even seen people stack their carts with milk that would expire in just a couple days. Seeing it was really disturbing, why put yourself and others in danger when you could just shop online in bulk? What made me finally give up on everyone, is when I heard some people were scared to go out because people in THEIR town, people they knew, were going to stores and fighting for things they didn't really need. The cause of panic was just overall dramatized.

I have an uncompleted story titled American Down Fall, by Jaz Deveau (Me) and it was basically the government taking over and closing things down they weren't using, people rampage for things they needed because they heard the announcement the president had made, things from there had gotten worse so people fought to survive and the military had forced people to work with them or they killed you off. I know I'm getting ahead of myself now and probably going to start a panic by just typing what I feel or something, but there's not much to panic about if you do what you're supposed to be doing. Stay home until it passes.

One day I had heard New York was on lock down and no one was supposed to be leaving because the state was the very first to have someone that had tested positive and the numbers had risen. I was working as a cashier when I noticed the man that had walked up to pay for his things wore gloves, a bandana for a mask, sunglasses, and a hoodie that had NYPD on it, and not too long after we had multiple NY plates in our parking lot. Now, I'm not usually the one to panic when it comes to sickness because when I was in school I was always sick, from stressed out sick, to actual illness, but when you keep seeing that people in old age are highly at risk because their bodies don't work well anymore, I had gotten a bit nervous because I live with my grandparents and if either of them got sick they could die.

The symptoms of the Coronavirus (COVID - 19) were similar to the flu but even then people who had gotten it had said it to be a lot worse than the flu. Fever, cough, shortness of breath, persistent pain or pressure on your chest, sore throat, on top of it pneumonia. The symptoms don't actively show but over a course of 14 days. If you do feel sick even if it's not the COVID - 19 DON'T take ibuprofen or anything like it because it aggravates it and makes it worse, Tylenol is the only thing that should be taken.

I'm not saying this is an article or even anything to be read, but what I've witnessed is a bit crazy fighting over toilet paper? Selling drops of hand sanitizer to people? Are we really this shallow? Are we really not going to think other people aren't going to need wipes or diapers for their kids during this? I get it's a good thing to be ready and have things stored away but, why be so selfish to the point where we have to now have a limited supply when we go to the store? Some people can't get out every day to go shopping, some get out once a month, others have to have someone else go shopping for them because they can't leave their own homes.

I've been at home since our state has declared a stay at home issue, and because of who I live with I did it for them, even though I may not have a job to go back to. Not sure about you but I'd rather keep my family alive than keep a job where I could bring something home that could possibly shorten my family for good.

There's no cure for this. It came from China and even after the country had thought it was over another outbreak occurred. Do your families a favor and stay home where it's safe, catch up with your kids, hobbies, create something fun to do. Make it as positive as you can, like Italy's residents sang together from their balconies as their population drops by thousands a week.

Like this paper, it's going to be a mess for a little while. Be happy with who you're with and who you're spending your time with, because you never know if they'll end up getting it and be one of those who have actually recovered from it.
