One has to wonder ever since the 1990s how the United States plummeted from being the stalwart nation of the world to now a mere shadow of its former self. Some believe we have only ourselves to blame for the election of Donald Trump, while others put it more bluntly on the power brokers of both political parties and the main stream media. Maybe it was all by unintelligent design. We have to remember that the Democratic party did everything possible including fracturing the rule of law by thwarting Bernie Sanders' nomination. Then there was of course the media frenzy covering Trump's swagger, profanity, and uncouth demure. Lest we forget all the millions of dollars lavishly spent in securing the Republican nomination. No other candidate could come close in media coverage of the Trump campaign.

Hashtag Un-Friendly
I've come to terms with my life where I am not going to be part of what "socializing" has become unless it's socially revolutionizing our society for the better; but instead, it's all about ridiculous things or challenges trending. Not going to lie you, I've been part of the problem, but once I noticed that people are slaves to their social media pages or just living in their own social fantasies, we don't really revolve anything unless we put action into those hashtags. You get me?

Immigrants Have Trouble Assimilating
This is flat out because Americans who have been here longer cause problems for them. It is the pecking order. Immigrants have a hard time adapting sometimes; it doesn’t matter what country they move to. Their new country has different customs, as well as needs. Americans are pretty much able to give any new immigrant problems. Somebody from Mainland China, for example, has trouble adapting to driving habits in California. They drive differently in China, according to my family who has been there. You have to cross the street at a time that is good for you.

Review of 'The Americans' 6.1
Well, The Americans, never more relevant to the current news than it is today, was back last night with the first episode of its final season. And the story it set in motion was relevant indeed. It's the story of Gorbachev and the perestroika and glasnost he set in motion verses the KGB forces and the older, harder liners who opposed him in what would be the final few years of the Soviet Union. History tells us he won—but not completely. And, eventually, those KGB forces took power again, in the form of Vladimir Putin.

That there is an opioid epidemic is indisputable. I remember as an anesthesia technician a member of the nursing staff had been dismissed because she was caught in an operating room with her hands in a used needle bin, trying to steal syringes with left over fentanyl.

Why School Shootings Happen
Gun control only works to disarm law abiding citizens, as police, military, and criminals all will still have access to the latest and greatest in the firearms world. Needing gun control to curb school shootings is an overly emotional response created due to pity and fear. Guns are an easy scapegoat, but really, are they to blame? Are knives to blame in stabbings?In my opinion, school shootings are caused by a number of things, none of which have to do with the number of guns readily available to disgruntled children.

Chaos? Nope, Just Bilingual
I recently moved to Connecticut for about 5 to 6 months now, originally from Puerto Rico and had to leave because of the hurricane Maria's aftermath because I basically had nothing left back home. So, here I am living in this new country and dealing with a language I am an amateur of, and I had encountered moments where I want to scream at people so they could understand what I am saying... Maybe even my writing is terrible, but I give myself a chance to be better. I come from a family where I am basically the only "fluently bilingual" one, because none of my siblings tried to even learn the language, and this has become a gift and a curse, especially when your mother wants to know about what she doesn't know.

Brexit — It Looks Like It's Happening
Both of the main political parties in the UK are committed to Brexit – well, sort of. The Tories more so, and I’m a little bit impressed that their pro-Remain MPs have been kept in line. Labour’s a bit more ambiguous, not because Jeremy Corbyn’s voiced anti-EU sentiment in the past, but because now he’s not really saying much of any substance. Most Labour MPs and party members are pro-Remain, and in PMQs and interviews, Corbyn expresses sentiments that would fit within a Remain framework. But he can’t bring himself to actually say it explicitly.

Taking Offense
Taking Offense. There is a great deal of media and social media attention given to complaints by somebody taking offense at some remark or action by others. To any rational person who is not directly involved, the offended person often appears to be getting agitated over very little. In our modern world where gratuitous abuse can be heaped on another anonymously, without any responsibility for accuracy or let alone good manners, it is really hard for any sensible appraisal of the reality to be made.

So Rich Yet So Poor
Intro There are many developing countries, from el Salvador to Argentina, but I’ve decided to focus on Afghanistan. Now why is Afghanistan considered a developing country? Maybe the fact that hundreds of people die daily because of the wars going on there, maybe because there are hundreds of rebel groups that bring so much corruption like ISIS and even the government. Afghanistan does not really lack many natural resources, in fact it has many, which in my opinion would bring it out of its tittle as a developing country. But those many resources are what brings a lot of conflict. These things also affect its infrastructure and population, all these things combined have a huge tole on income per capita and its growth.
