Valuing the Environment in an Administration That Doesn't
It's no wonder you don't really see signs that say "Environmentalist for Trump" at certain rallies (even klan). Donald Trump pretty much stands for everything us tree huggers hate. From electing Scott Pruitt, a former Attorney General of Oklahoma who once described himself as a "Leading advocate against EPA's activist agenda" as the 14th Administrator of the EPA to tweeting about Climate Change skepticism roughly 115 times, environmentalist are at a lost for words.

Youth Empowerment
The youth of today are standing up for what’s right in the world whether it be marriage equality or women’s equality in the workplace. The generation of today are taking steps in the right direction to make sure the world they and their kids will grow up in is a fair and just one for everyone. With the increase of youth stepping up in society it comes as no surprise that the youth of today and young adults are stepping out in society and securing the top places in government and gaining popularity with the population of their country to become prime minister/president of their respective countries.

The Five Minute Presidential Manager
by FREDERICA VON McTOAST-HYPHEN, Alternate Reality News Service People Writer There has been a lot of speculation of late (sorry — traffic was a bitch) over whether President Ronald McDruhitmumpf reads. You would think, given the myriad (more than a quisling, less than a Riesling) problems with the McDruhitmumpf administration, journalists would have more important matters on which to speculate on (take that grammar purists!). Maybe they watched one too many Reading is *F*A*B* after-school specials when they were young, and the idea of illiteracy haunts their every in-between waking and sleeping moment (like Freddy Kruegerrandover, only without his snappy fashion sense).

Dear Donald, We Will Stop You
"I wonder what would happen if Trump actually did become President. Is that fucked up to think about?" Yes, past Katie, it was fucked up to think about. You were so damn sure of Hillary's presidency that you didn't even think about the consequences of your thought. Obviously, your thought caused Trump to win the presidency. You failed the nation.

Nice, but Not Nice
In this day and age, it's easy to get published. Maybe you have to go through Amazon and self-publish, but you can do it and keep control of your intellectual property. But sometimes, you can be stubborn like me, and insist on trying to get traditionally published. I tried to do this with a collection of political essays I wrote before, during, and after the 2016 election. It was a long shot, and I knew it. There were essays in there that I would have been uncomfortable showing my bartender. But I forged ahead with the thought of, why not? Well, an editor at the publishing house I submitted to told me why not. I was too nice!

The Strange Career of Jill Crow – Part 1
There was a time in America when women were neither the breadwinners nor a large part of the workforce. The cult of domesticity dictated that women stay at home and not work outside of the home. This durable philosophy of “true womanhood” further ordained that women should be more religious than men — pure of heart, mind, and body, as well as submissive to the men in their lives. We were not allowed to vote, own property or have credit of our own.

What's the Most Patriotic Thing You Can Do this Year?
This year has been a wild ride. Not only has a walking prank been elected into leadership of one of the most powerful countries in the world, we've seen an upsurge of nationalistic bullshit from fascists the world over. Canadians are just figuring out that maybe their country isn't as perfect as they like to believe. Britain has turned into a bigger circus than usual.

The Shipwreck of Grenfell Tower
We are living in strange times and we constantly look for newfangled ideas or concepts that help us understand and put into context what is happening around us. Thus, concepts such as Post-truth, Alt-right, Anthropocene, Speculative Realism, Accelerationism, and Universal Basic Income have become part of the usual repertoire utilized in academic and non-academic articles, journals, and newspapers. Against this tendency which states that everything is invented, that all is plagiarism or imitation, that we just rehash other people ideas and that just by looking back and dusting out old theories, we might be able to explain anything. The prolific coining of new concepts arises, opening up new paths and supporting infinite new discussions. However, frequently (and most of the times, sadly) we need to deal with old concepts that we would rather push back to oblivion, such as racism, colonialism, fascism, and so on.
