The hypocrisy of judging history Retrospectively applying moral judgment is potentially dangerous There does seem to be a trend towards trying to obliterate truth about “history;” attempts are made to punish descendants- many generations later- for events that were perfectly legal in the period in which they were committed. There are also attempts to delete the truth about these historic events, the prevailing knowledge and opinions of the period in which the events occurred, from the base knowledge of future generations.

A Dividing Line
A dividing line What you are about to read is not a political post, it is however an analysis of sorts in terms of psychology. So we just happened to make it through four years of a very turbulent political climate. Racism, Xenophobia and nationalism were the key words that framed our national’s political climate. However the strange situation is that no matter how many horrible things that the president did there were still those who would follow his every word to such a degree that they would end up drinking bleach. However, as mentioned above, this is not a political post, instead it’s an analysis or a critique if you will. How did we get into such a situation where an individual who said things so shocking become so beloved? Now I’m sure there are numerous articles about the psychology of this situation everywhere but it does not reduce climate that we were living in what so ever. It was like a strange episode of the Twilight Zone, a so called millionaire reality TV show host wants to become president so he can make the nation right, instead he creates his own reality and his own facts which thousands of individuals defend. These individuals do not live the United States that everyone else lives in, they live in a sub country within the United States. These individuals still think that the previous president is still their president while they wave their flags along side their confederate flags. There is something strange and surreal about the fact that these individuals truly think that he could make the country into something greater. Meanwhile, this president cut ties with the WHO, denied the current pandemic, and he was against everything and anything that would benefit the conservation of the planet. There is something really sad and strange about the fact that there are individuals who will still praise this former president despite his two impeachments and his disgusting “locker room talk.” I’m not here to point a finger; I’m here to ask how did we get to that place? How did we have an individual with failing businesses end up running our country? It really makes a person wonder what brings us to such a position. Sure the current president has had his little babbles here or there but he’s really just your run of the mill politician. It’s a surreal situation, indeed. I wonder what they will say about him in history books and I wonder what he’s doing now and what he’s thinking about. Is this what we get for having a celebrity run as a president? We did have Ronald Regan, was he no better? Was this just something else entirely? It’s like those who believe that the earth is flat; there is no convincing them that it is not. Some people do not think that we ever landed on the moon. I read somewhere that there is a thing called information bias, where if someone believes something strong enough then there is no convincing him or her otherwise. I’m not sure if I got that definition correct but I just think the whole thing is kind of strange in general. I liked the guy for a split second but it went from a fun novelty to a terrible nightmare before my very eyes. I just cannot get over how could something like that end up occurring in the first place. It is like watching a terrible movie or TV show knowing that it took a lot of people and energy and finances to make that movie a reality. I don’t know maybe they all know something that I don’t know, or maybe it’s the other way around.

Dear Diary, What a day yesterday. That inauguration was nice and calm. Thank goodness there wasn’t a riot or anyone getting bold. Not too sure what to think about this whole election. Its like, can America get any worse? It probably can but let’s pray for the best. How nice to have a black woman in office, a woman at all in that position is beautiful, but for it to be a black woman is even better. I sure hope they know what they are doing. I think things may get better for America. We are always looked at as the laughingstock of the world and the last 4 years we really were the laughingstock of the world. The headlines across the world about Trump leaving office have been absolutely hilarious. You got a woman online talking about how this is “Our Country” LOL. Ma’am, this is NOT ya’ll country!!! This is stolen land, and this is why America is the way it is now. BECAUSE ITS WAS BUILT ON MURDER, THEFT and SLAVERY. Nothing good can come from that. This is why America will forever be fighting itself. But we all know America will be America. I will always do what I need to do to prosper and be what God needs and wants me to be no matter who is in office.

Kamala Harris: A Vice President of Consequence?
The office of Vice President has long been known as the graveyard of political ambition. Founding father, John Adams was known I have widely disparaged the office one that was heavy on symbolism, but which yielded little political power. Apart from breaking procedural ties in the US Senate, the office of the Vice President is largely seen as an agent of the President. The Vice-President may have the ear of a sitting President but ultimately is essential function is to carry out the vision of the administration he serves. The political consequences of his office ensures that he receives few of the benefits of being part of a successful administration, and almost all the blame for the failures of any sitting President. Examples of Vice President who could not transfer the successes of past administration to a successful run for the Presidency are easy to find. Vice President Al Gore, while not helped by the indiscretions of Bill Clinton, was arguably still well positioned to mount an effective Presidential campaign. Put in charge of nurturing federal support of emerging in industries in Silicon Valley, Al Gore had witnessed the emergence of a thriving tech sector that would play a key role in the creation of a thriving economy. Internationally he had been part of an administration that had waged a successful military campaign in one of the divisive regions of the world while only losing a handful of us service men. Unlike Hillary Clinton, Gore’s time in office had been free of incidents like Benghazi. Yet despite the economic, environmental and military achievements of the Clinton administration Gore found himself unable to achieve sufficient recognition for his achievements and found himself defeated by an opponent who many had perceived as a weak contender for the office of the Presidency. It is hardly that more than a few of those who have aspired to the Presidency have declined to the office of the Vice President.

Donald Trump has officially left the White House, but that doesn't mean his supporters are going to change their tunes. They've gotten used to living openly with their intolerance and/or full-on hatred for groups that differ from themselves. Some of them still aren't facing the reality that their candidate lost the election, and as we all know, the reactions haven't been pretty.

Unfathomable Distance
Tomorrow, January 20th, 2021 will mark a year since the first COVID-19 case was identified in the United States. In my state of Washington, a patient was given a diagnosis of the disease that was then confirmed by the CDC. The patient had returned from Wuhan on the 15th. While the official announcement was not made until the following day, the confirmation that the individual did have COVID was made on the 20th. I feel like with the inauguration of Biden, and the expected rowdiness of the event that this will be a thing that we overlook.

Mixed Emotions
Dear President Donald J Trump; Like most presidents in recent years, your time in office has been plagued by conspiracy theories, turmoil, and change. You’ve left a legacy behind that will never be forgotten, some good, but most of the good you did will be overshadowed by the overwhelming negativity perpetuated by you and yours. Comparing you to recent presidents Obama or Bush seems almost sacrilegious, like it lessens the impact they had on this country, but how can we discount the impact you’ve had?
