Stop a Bullet with a Poem
Stop A Bullet with A Poem If I could stop a bullet with a poem I would. If I could save one life with a poem I would. I’d throw each word like a disk or a shield aiming straight at bullets from 45s and 22s that has black, white, and brown families singing the blues, singing the blues.

Tears and Fears in Kakum National Park
"Don't look down," I whisper to myself. Ahead of me lies my nemesis, two planks with a rope handle hanging over empty space. Never a fan of heights, I consider backing out and heading down the mountain. The faces of several small children half my height eagerly walking across the bridge make me swallow my fears and step on the shaky boards. The pit in my stomach grows larger but my ego goads me on. My pride demands that I don't wimp out in front of these children. I stare fixedly ahead and slowly place one foot in front of the other, my fingers clenching the rope handle in a death grip.

10 Important Things to Do Before You Get Married
Around one out of every two marriages in the United States will end in divorce—and believe it or not, we don't even have the highest divorce rates. That dubious honor goes to the country of Belgium, where 70 percent of all couples will divorce.

The Power of Habit
December is an interesting month for most of the modern world as people get together with their families, eat a surplus amount of food, and exchange gifts or perform other religious acts. This holiday is quickly followed by an entire week of shopping deals, in which people are likely to participate considering they are still in the "money-spending mood."

How to Move Out as a Teenager—What You Must Consider
I moved out of my family home at 18-years-old. I was not kicked out, but circumstances within the home became very difficult, to the point that I found that it was an impossible place to live. To do so, would mean that I would go backwards rather than forwards in recovering from depression and mental illness. It was a painful and disappointing endeavor, but one I am glad I made. It had seemed impossible, I didn't know where to begin and I needed to move quickly.

Yield Curve Inversions and What It Could Mean for Your Portfolio
If you’ve been a follower of financial news you have been hearing about all this talk about the so-called yield curve. In fact, it was fears of a yield curve inversion that have sent the Dow and S&P 500 indices tumbling from their recent highs just before the New Year.

Album of 2018: 'LM5'
As someone who appreciates music from all genres, my opinion on music is varied. Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd is the album I consider to be the best of all time; however my personal favourite album of all time is Eye to the Telescope by KT Tunstall. Selecting LM5 as the best album of this year for me was tough and I absolutely have to give a shout out to Janelle Monae with Dirty Computer and Ariana Grande with Sweetner; however, Little Mix just delivered for me in 2018.

Mother Knows Best
Every summer the rising heat brings the wave of headlines reading “Another Child Left to Die in Hot Car,” and the masses screaming, “What is wrong with people?! How could they be so careless?” Which leads me to think, everybody gets so distressed about people leaving their babies in hot cars because dozens of children perish every year. It's common sense to NOT DO THAT, right? So why is it that we still practically condone things like unsafe sleep, feeding, and car seat habits when THOUSANDS of children are dying?

Dreams Shouldn't End at Christmas, but Sometimes They Do
It has always been a dream of mine to one day have a family home equal to my grandfather's, where Christmas would bring friends and family in from the cold and closer to the fireside. He taught me how to love Christmas. Almost every room in my grandparent's house had a tree. He had a homemade nativity crib, strings of coloured lights across the ceiling, sweets, sacks of presents, clove decorated oranges and strange parlour games handed down from his Victorian grandparents. His mischievous character and his childlike joy at that time of year live on in my siblings and me.
