Five Things We Want From the XFL
The XFL is making a comeback like a zombie from The Walking Dead. Instead of infecting you with a deadly virus, the XFL is looking to infect you with patriotism and love for football. Vince McMahon's new project aims to take some of the viewers that the NFL has been losing over the last couple of years. Protests, changes to the rules & politics have discouraged some fans from watching the NFL. One of the ways that McMahon looks to vulture some of these fans is to "eliminate" politics from football. In the new XFL, the players will be required to stand for the National Anthem & any type of protest will be done on the player's personal time. This, making the game faster, & fan participation are some of the changes that McMahon promises that would make football great again. But what are some actual changes that the average NFL fan, or even just a TV fan, would like to see on the XFL? Here are five things that the XFL could do to make me want to watch their games:

When I was in high school, it crossed my mind more than once that someday I’d have a son and he would play high school football. I thought about how proud I would be to see him suited up, helmet glistening in the sun. I thought about how excited he would be to play football “just like his old man.” I thought maybe he’d play the same position. Maybe he’d even have my number.

I’m Sorry, the Washington Redskins Did What?
"...I believe it was Socrates who said: 'I drank what?'"- Val Kilmer as Chris Knight in Real Genius. That quote ran through my head as I heard the news that the Washington Redskins and Kansas City Chiefs had agreed to a deal that would send QB Alex Smith to D.C. in exchange for CB Kendall Fuller and a third-round pick. I just could not fathom why a team like the Redskins, with a pretty capable signal-caller in Kirk Cousins destined for a mega-deal this offseason, would just up and move on.

The Sad, Pathetic Existence of the NY Rangers and the Cause of It
In the year 2000, Glen Sather arrived from Edmonton with fanfare set aside only for such comparable events as royal weddings, the Kennedy Center Honors or a championship parade down the Canyon of Heroes in New York City. The expectation was more than just that the NY Rangers would be on top of the NHL where they belonged. Glen 'Slats' Sather, the maker of the Edmonton dynasty, was supposed to not only propel the franchise to a much higher plateau than even Charles Dolan ever thought possible, but also bring with him a master plan that would ensure a healthy farm team and NHL team for years to come. And this decree was brought to us by the king of the Garden. Yes, Charles Dolan, the hockey whiz-kid who couldn't bother interviewing anyone else for the position despite Sather's recent years of failure in Edmonton, to bring Rangers back to respectability was aglow. He had his man.

Super Bowl 2018
The Super Bowl is the biggest party of the year, every year. Not necessarily for the game itself. Oh no. This is about much more than a simple championship for arguably America’s biggest sport. There is so much more going on that the game itself is almost seen as anticlimactic. An afterthought. At least that is the way it seems for us fans in the Philadelphia area, and more specifically, Philadelphia Eagles fans. There is a lot to see and do that surrounds the Super Bowl. There are the hours upon hours of pre-game shows to watch (or not, seeing how it gets redundant quickly), the singing of the National Anthem. The pre-game concert. The halftime show. The commercials. Of course, the food and adult beverages. If anything, the food and drinks take center stage for me, since I host a yearly party for this event. I plan, prepare, and cook the refreshments for the game. I love doing it. Family and friends come over, relax, enjoy themselves, and enjoy whatever that makes them happy (game or not). It is a true party for us. The 2018 game, however, will take on a more personal significance. Our home team is playing in the game. And for us, the party is going to be special.

As I’m lying here in bed thinking about the New England Patriots and the New Philadelphia Eagles playing in Super Bowl LII, I can’t help but wonder what the Cleveland Browns are up to after pretty much taking a whole year off. Are they making moves to get better? Are they deciding on a new head coach? I know I would if I were them, but since I’m not, I’m just left here reading news articles and hoping the best for a team I enjoy next season.

Jim Thome's Case for Hall of Fame
The Baseball Hall of Fame honors the all-time greats of the game. For over 80 years, the best of the best (and some not so best) have been enshrined into the highest honor of the game. Players from the all-time greats of Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, and Cy Young, to those of “lesser” pedigree, as Phil Rizzuto, Bill Mazeroski, and Dave Bancroft have all found their way into the doors of the Hall. In all, 319 people have called the Baseball Hall of Fame home. Although the qualifications and requirements for enshrinement can be subjective at times, there is no doubt that being called into the Hall of Fame is a truly high honor for any person. There has been resistance to those persons who have been proven or accused of “cheating the game,” with stars ranging from ‘Shoeless’ Joe Jackson & Pete Rose to Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, and Sammy Sosa. With a glut of worthy candidates on the way in the future ballots, one name that stands out as truly worthy, and hopefully is rewarded with a first-ballot enshrinement when the results of the upcoming 2018 are announced, is Jim Thome.

How Dock Ellis Pitched a No Hitter While High on LSD
Often times one can find a bit of history that is truly amazing. Like the invention of the airplane or the telephone or the first person who combined Jack Daniels with Coca-Cola. This story, much like the man with no legs who climbed Mt. Everest, or even that one time you should have been arrested but weren’t somehow because the cops got an emergency call and couldn’t waste their time with you, is in a word, unbelievable. This story is one of the greatest sports legends in not just the history of baseball, but in the history of the world. In 1970, Dock Ellis threw one of the game’s most notable no hitters, but the story starts much earlier than that.

Gerrit Cole Trade Makes the Astros Rotation One of the Best in Baseball . Top Story - January 2018.
The Houston Astros added another piece to their organization that will certainly help them as they look to repeat as World Series champions in 2018, and that piece is Gerrit Cole. The 'Stros sent three prospects and Joe Musgrove to the Pirates in exchange for Cole. The 27-year-old spent all five major league seasons with Pittsburgh after they selected him first overall in the 2010 draft out of UCLA.

Buffalo Bills Are Poised to Be America's Team
The 2017-2018 season in the NFL was an exciting one for your average Buffalo Bills fan. For your rabid fan, it was probably a bit stressful. But regardless of your perspective, the Buffalo Bills broke their 17-year playoff drought and made it into the "tournament." Western New York was overjoyed.
